Home insurance: how much content insurance for 5 bed

I need some guidance on how much to insure our content for. I have an idea and I know the rules of thumb but just out of curiosity, how much do you have your home content insured for if you live in a five bed house?

but basically you need to go room by room and estimate what it would cost to replace with new items. Don’t forget things like clothes, perfume, handbags, sports equipment, you will likely be shocked!

As it happens, I used the Aviva app and it was spot on although our loss adjuster seems to think we need to double our contents. Luckily I still have receipts for big ticket items as we didn’t move in that long ago (including beds and carpets etc). Our very expensive sports equipment is covered separately.

It depends on what you have in it. I know people in a two-bed flat whose contents would be way more than people in a 5 bed house!
