Pelvic floor - can’t even hold a kegal

I’m 49 years old and had 2 vaginal births. I’ve been really stupid and neglectful of my pelvic floor. Husband has had cancer, very difficult teenager and just haven’t thought about myself. Now I realise that I have an uncomfortable feeling like a tampon stuck and pretty sure I have a prolapse. Drs appointment booked for a months time. If I try and try hold a kegal it is literally for less than a second, I can’t hold for longer and it’s weak. I’m so stupid not to have practised them. Is it all too late?

Definitely not too late! It's the same thing as building muscle when you exercise so you can build the strength back up.

I would look for a women's physio in your area. They will be able to evaluate you and help you with exercises.

They will also probably talk to you about how to breathe "properly". Make sure when you lift anything, that you breathe out and try to lift your pelvic floor up. The same when you need to cough or sneeze!

It's also important to not strain on the toilet so if you have any issues with constipation, try and deal with that.

@Justlostmybagel thanks for your reply. I will look into a pelvic floor specialist. Has anyone else corrected a prolapse?
