Do you have any snow where you are?
We live in the SE, near London, so rarely get any, even if it's in the forecast.
Just looked out of ensuite window and the cars and pavements have a lovely white blanket!
I'll be cursing it in 3 hours time when have to drive the school run 😅
Luckily I'm working from home this week so won't have to venture far.

Take care out there if you're experiencing significant snowfall and icy conditions.
It is pretty but also treacherous.

Snow pics welcome!

NE Scotland. Drifts are waist deep. Area is at a standstill. No Amazon. No post, no schools open and no food getting through to the shops. Lovely if you’ve prepared and don’t need to get out though!

That looks so picturesque @Chipsahoy but you're absolutely right.
I hope you are OK for supplies.

Just setting out for the school run.
It's bitterly cold now

South Lincolnshire here and a light covering of snow. It’s my pup’s first day when he is allowed out of the garden and he’s not impressed by the snow!

How's pup getting on?

< Not at all hinting for a pic >

The roads are freezing over again, take care out there

Onacuctustree · 05/01/2026 19:57

It's very cold here in Staffordshire. And about an inch and half of snow.
Living on a back road hill... I wish for a thaw before I have to drive again!

OldFred · 05/01/2026 22:28

Oh no @Onacuctustree
That's not looking likely, it's going to be at least -5 tonight.
I hope you don't need to drive out soon.

It's like a frozen Winter Wonderland out there.

I hope you're all doing OK.
It went down to -7 last night, and currently-3, but no more snow forecast until possibly Thursday.

We've had no snow whatsoever, not even a threat of it
Hornchurch
Not likely either. So sad 😞

Mymanyellow · 08/01/2026 17:36

SE here had sleet here on Tuesday. But nothing else has been raining all day. Hate the snow, absolutely hate it.

OldFred · 08/01/2026 17:56

@Mymanyellow same here.
It's just raining here, no sign of any snow.
Doesn't feel cold enough for it now.

Dudley, west mids.

We are supposed to be getting it quite bad.

Still just raining on and off at the moment.

OldFred · 08/01/2026 18:48

@Quagmireschin did you have a lot of snow at the beginning of the week?

Yes we did. Lots of snow on Monday (I think, I’ve lost track of days).

I spoke too soon. It’s coming down quite heavily now and is supposed to go all night.

It's horrible out there but nice looking! I have to be at work for 7.30am so dreading the 35 min drive.

I've just bought a horse so when my day ends at 3.30pm I'll be going there afterwards! Mind you it will probably clear by then. In the Midlands and currently minus 4. Brrr wrap up warm folks!

Edited

@HangryBrickShark where in the midlands? Im in Nottm just rain here

It all worked out ok.
The snow was so wet when I had to leave. It didn't stick.
Later, lots of people couldn't get in to work.
I am just thankful the temperature didn't go down.
Otherwise it would have been snow instead of rain. And ice later .

LemaxObsessive · 09/01/2026 10:39

Not a flake! (none since last winter) Despite both the forecast and two radar models stating that we would get heavy snow. DD is fuming.

OldFred · 09/01/2026 10:50

Well this morning's school run was interesting!
Sleety rain, and it definitely was rain when we left the house.
5 minutes in, the conditions suddenly became blizzard like.
I can fully understand how people are caught out when setting off on a journey and we are not even anywhere near the yellow zones, let alone amber.
Luckily, we got to school and work without incident.
Hope everyone stays safe.

OldFred · 09/01/2026 10:54

@Onacuctustree I am glad to hear that.
There are two very very steep hills in our town and it scares the bejeesus out of me just how dangerous it is under snowy/icy conditions.
It definitely is the refreezing of unmelted ice that is the hidden danger.

OP posts:
Plump82 · 09/01/2026 13:27

Well we've had the tiniest little flurry of snow on and off for the last few hours. Not coming to anything at all and when it stops, there's no evidence of it ever having snowed!

Mymanyellow · 09/01/2026 16:28

No snow here lots of rain. Was quite mild walking to work this morning at 8 ish. Just arrived home and the temperature has definitely dropped and still raining.

We're about 10 miles north of Nottingham and we had 10cm overnight.
It's very localised, friends who live a similar distance from Nottingham but in Newark direction have had nothing.

Littlejohnjustwaitandseensoulstomper · 09/01/2026 18:49

Aberdeen ,now heading into the ice stage ,forecast rain so could be water on ice yay.
Commiserations to all in the Amber and red zones.👍it's such a pita.

OldFred · 09/01/2026 19:13

@Littlejohnjustwaitandseensoulstomper You are our first Aberdeen Correspondent!
Were you in the area affected the worst by the huge drifts?
Hope you are doing ok. Ice is evil. Take care out there.

No although the city was bad ,Aberdeen shire had it a lot worse with snowfall and drifts coming off the fields etc.
The shire is more rural areas.
