Sheet for a king sized bed that actually stays on

We cannot seem to keep a fitted sheet on our mattress for longer than one night without it pinging off the corners. We have a king sized tempur matress and have tried king sized fitted sheets from dunelm, Tesco, random from TK Maxx, M and S and a deep one from John Lewis which was the best but still not ideal. We also had one from Tempur which was very expensive and still rubbish. Has anyone else had this (first world I know) problem and found a solution?

Flat sheets are the way to go imo!! So much easier.

Bonjamin · 04/01/2026 10:04

Rise and Fall do the best fitted sheets, with really thick elastic that holds everything in the right place. Not cheap but worth it.

@lucysmamit’s a bit clipped as I actually got it off Facebook but here it is-a slow cooker one

Wrong thread. Unless anyone wants a chicken curry recipe along side their new sheets

Soun like you need an extra deep one, that’s what we have and they stay on fine. Next do them

Munchyseeds2 · 04/01/2026 10:07

Someone may already have mentioned but dunelm do cotten fitted sheets with a small toggle at each corner
They are fab and never come off

I just use clips. Not they ones that go the full width of the mattress, just corner clips.

And I only need them at the head end.

These look great! I have a big long multi clip thing that goes under the mattress but it’s an utter pain to use. These look fat nor practical!

Came on here looking for the answer to slipping sheets and found a recipe I like the look of too! Just saved it to try tonight so thanks for that 😁

Ikea. We have one of the EU sized mattresses that ikea used to sell, it's wider than the UK size. Ikea sheets fit it really well so they would work for a uk size without having to spend more on a super king sheet.

😂 I add extra lime juice and chilli flakes and skip the lime zest because I can’t be bothered and it turns out lovely!

We have corner clips like @NeedForSpeedyGonzales. Good choice, OP.

These look great, thanks for the recommendation! My fitted sheets fit well but DH tosses and turns which dislodges it. I assume I will only need to put the clip on his side at the head end so it won't be a pain to change the sheets.

Yes please! I would!

Isobel201 · 04/01/2026 10:39

I get deep pocket sheets as not only they're easier to put on with arthritis, I have a decent mattress and then a mattress protector over the top, so I find I need an extra large sheet.

I bought extra deep kingsize sheets from Tesco, and from Amazon and they are brilliant, plenty of room on them to fit the bed properly and they never come off.

sequin2000 · 04/01/2026 10:49

I agree with rise and fall. Lovely quality and no way it's ever coming off

MistyMountainTop · 04/01/2026 11:20

Not had any problems at all since we moved to M&S extra deep fitted bottom sheets

Mags1001 · 04/01/2026 13:12

Measure the depth of your mattress. I thin I got 1 off amazon once & that had the depth on the description. I've only got a double though.

RosesAndHellebores · 04/01/2026 13:17

Extra deep pure cotton ones from JL. 200 or 400 count. Lots of tuckable volume.

I saw a pure cotton one in Tesco once and thought it was a steal at £13.99. It was like sleeping on a brillo pad even after two washes. The decorator was thrilled with it.

climbintheback · 04/01/2026 13:20

Make one from super king just machine more knicker elastic in the corners

mazedasamarchhare · 04/01/2026 14:04

What’s the size of your mattress OP? I think sheets have undergone a ‘shrinkage’! My bed called itself a super king (200cms x200cms) but some sheets which call themselves ‘super king’ are 180x 200 and apparently I now need emperor sized sheets🤯.

Miranda65 · 04/01/2026 14:08

I've never bought fitted sheets in my life - what's the point? Just buy normal sheets and make the bed with proper hospital corners - the sheet will stay in place.

Purplerain1144 · 04/01/2026 14:28

Dunelm do extra deep ones. Mine is actually a bit too big now!
