I weighed myself this morning....

And I've lost half a kg since before Christmas.

How is this possible? I've eaten my own weight in chocolate and drunk a litre of Bailey's. I did dance like a lunatic on NYE which accounts for a few calories but still 🤔

What's that, about a pound?

I probably go up and down a pound every day, depending on the time I weigh myself.

I was sure I'd gain a bit this Christmas but I didn't.

Then again, I'm one of these weird people who goes on a week's all inclusive holiday and comes back having lost weight 😳

Probably all the walking and swimming.

YelramBob · 04/01/2026 00:35

Yes it's about 1lb. I'm really careful with what I eat - low carb etc but went all out at Christmas and thought 'fuck it' and expected to put a bit on.

Now, this new Cadbury diet could really take off 😅

Unfortunately I agree with StopYuckingMyYum; you probably fluctuate by a pound or more most days even if your weight is stable.

If you weigh every day you pick up all the fluctuations and can see an up/down movement over time.

If you genuinely did lose weight by eating more junk and drinking Baileys, then congratulations on winning the genetics lottery Grin

you probably just pooped. Honestly you start a thread about losing a lb!

I don’t understand people who say they fluctuate by a lb.
A friend said the other day she’d pigged out during an AI holiday and had put on 3lb ish.

I weigh daily.
And fluctuate by 2kg regularly.
No it’s not just a big 💩

Even with my new scales. They can be off by a few pounds. Sometimes my body says I have lost some and then next week it turns out I have not.

Same! Have you tracked it around your cycle? (Assuming you have one) I think mine does roughly go over the month, in that I steadily gain 'weight' (fluid retention) for the couple weeks pre period, then lose it with and just after the period. Rinse and repeat.

I’m on MJ but have been maintaining a pretty consistent weight for the last 4 months or so.
i weigh once a week and it’s either the same or up/down by up to 2lbs.
I jabbed as normal before Christmas and had quite a normal appetite, indulged more than I usually do with some pudding and pasty in the form of sausage rolls which I don’t usually do, then we went on holiday for a week and had a glass of wine or two every day, ate pastries and baguette and cheese every day (never do this at home),
came home and lost a lb. It’s a normal fluctuation for me but I was surprised nonetheless as I was quite sure I’d have gained the weight rather than gone down at all.
Bodies are weird.

SpringIsComingSoonFolks · 04/01/2026 09:02

It’s 1lb! I can fluctuate by this much in the same day.

Sleepasaurus · 04/01/2026 09:06

When I was trying to loose weight I weighed daily as it really can change day by day depending on a variety of factors.

But I don’t want to rain on your parade and if it makes you feel good then well done on the baileys and chocolate diet!

Screenager · 04/01/2026 09:10

OP I think people or being quite bitchy on here and totally missing the point!… I think it’s amazing that you didn’t gain more considering you weren’t watching what you eat like normal, and then losing half a kg!

I on the other hand, also relaxed on what I ate and gained 3kgs 😩

EleanorReally · 04/01/2026 09:11

magic cadburys

IsawwhatIsaw · 04/01/2026 09:14

Lucky you… I’m 3 pounds up , have been pigging out for days so only surprised it’s not more…
