I see each of them about 6 times a year - a couple of times will be family events we are attending together, once will be a holiday we have together and then occasional other things as and when possible. They see eachother a bit more frequently as they live closer to eachother sp probably see eachother about once a month. Twice a month seems a bit excessive. There are only 52 weekends in a year and some of those need to be reserved for actual rest, and there are dozens of other people in my life I also want to spend quality time with other than immediate family.

I have 3 sisters - one works in London so I don’t see her as often but the other 2 moved to be near me (5 minutes away) when I moved to our hometown after my divorce and co parent my daughter with me. I see both at least weekly, watsapp more often. One of the local sisters has a high pressured job so I don’t see her during the work week, but we will catch up most weekends but DD is around so we can’t talk freely, the other works from home 3 days a week and most weeks we will have weekday lunch just the 2 of us while my DD is at school and her husband is at the office.

We grew up as a tight unit and as I get older I appreciate them more, as friends and sisters. It’s also a huge privilege to be able to speak freely about our childhoods (which were eventful and unfortunately traumatic) with people who really understand. My sisters of anyone in my life have been there to support me in the hard times and celebrate the good times. Of course we argue at times but I’m very blessed - we all agree that one of the greatest gifts our parents gave to a was each other. My sisters have good ideas and great advice too - the older one especially was a second mum figure growing up and still not a very maternal with me, especially if I’m unwell

I have a lot of fun with my sisters, as children we squabbled but as adults we are friends.

I haven't set eyes on mine for 6 yrs now.
It's complicated to say the least.

Also - how many sister whatsapp groups are you in? My eldest sister was really annoyed when she found out that the youngest 3 sisters had a separate WhatsApp group called ‘the best sisters’ (we are 150 years old between us!) we assumed the older ones did as they seem to all be on the same page / message re mum and dad… it was a massive kick off

I’d be really hurt if there was a group called that as well. Just nasty and spiteful. I’m well aware that there’s a Facebook Messenger group which has all my sisters and cousins in it. I absented myself as I’m NC with one of my sisters so they can all crack on without me (and they do - never invited to anything) but at least I was aware of it, and it’s not called a goady name.

have one sister who lives 5 minutes walk away not seen her for 3 years as we are now nc. Prior to that I saw her every weekend and we texted most days

AgnesMcDoo · 03/01/2026 11:59

One - twice a year - she lives hundreds of miles away

the other - once a week - she lives 2 miles away

Zerodarkforty · 03/01/2026 11:59

2 sisters. At least once a week and speak every day via WhatsApp.

Toddlerteaplease · 03/01/2026 12:29

One sister, she lives about 3.5 hours away. Probably every few months. Lots of messages though.

Oldandgreyer · 03/01/2026 12:42

Don't hear from one until I post about having made jam on Facebook, or offering something free. The other I saw more recently and went for lunch.

Fibrous · 03/01/2026 12:46

I would see my siblings regularly enough if they lived nearby but we all live hundreds of miles from each other so it’s just whenever - every few years I guess.

We don't have one.
