Did you stick to your 'Next Christmas' vows?

The past few days there have been quite a few threads from people having miserable Christmasses 😞. There's lots of 'next year it's just us/no travelling/getting a takeaway/ going on holiday' etc.

Same as most years.

Just wondering if anyone who said this in the past has followed it through and are happier now?

Yep.
last year I said we were downgrading the sheer volume of gifts for our adult dc and family and we stuck with it.

we said last year that this year we would eat out Boxing Day not Xmas day and would have a really relaxed chilled Xmas day with kids and grandkids and a nice walk and that’s what we did this year

last year we said we weren’t spending a fortune on food at home and do more experience things between Xmas and new year and that’s what we are doing this year.

one thing I’ve said this year I won’t do again and that invite parents for meal out Boxing Day or Xmas day again

last year my parents fell out at the Xmas day restaurant table and this year they sat with faces like slapped asses and stroppy manner throughout the boxing day meal out. Never again will I invite them

Sounds great, I much prefer spending money on doing things than buying stuff! Hopefully next year will be even better :)

Yup. Last Christmas was stressful. I was fed up with doing all the thinking, cooking and spending for too many people. I said not this year. So, DH, 4 teen DC and I sacked it all off and flew to see my wonderful cousins in Australia.

We’ve had no decorations, one small gift each, a picnic on the beach (with no washing up), carols on the beach, loads of relaxed family time, lots of laughs, all unplugged, beautiful food, swimming, sailing and cricket. DC have made great friends with their Aussie cousins and are all talking about coming back to work or travel, I’ve cooked for no one, done no wrapping and felt not one jot of stress. It’s been absolutely amazing! I feel so happy right now 🙂
