Hotel receptionist here - I'm not looking forward to it, I'd rather be home.nut I did negotiate NYE off so that's something.

I'm working in a hotel
It was supposed to be 10-5 but got changed yesterday to 9-5
I have boxing day off that's it, worked christmas eve as well and will be working all over new years

Thank you so much to everyone in this thread and everyone working at Christmas. It's something most people will never have to do. I'm not working this year but have worked it several times over the years as a vet. Hope all your shifts are quiet and stress-free.

We were farming for years and I did nights as a staff nurse so Christmas was always juggling what needed to be done at home as well as trying to have a great time with the DCs.
Sending my thanks and gratitude to all who are working x

Farmer here so every day is a work day Smile due to be a lovely sunny, crisp day though so looking forward to getting out when it gets light and of course we get to be together as a family at the same time

Me too. Kids help out from 9-12 as well. Staff in 7-1. Joys of being a livestock farmer. Does mean you earn your dinner though!

Just about to go to work after finishing at 1pm last night. I’m a vicar! Have a blessed Christmas, all you who are working — whenever you get there!

I’m working tonight, 6pm-6am. I’m going to be shattered, slept badly last night and I’m making the choice to enjoy Christmas with my young children rather than sleeping. Will eat Christmas dinner and then leave for work.

Doyouthinktheyknow · 25/12/2025 20:01

I’m finished and home and on the sofa, full of beige picky bits🤪
Had a really crazy busy day but we survived and at least the time flew by! No break, lunch at the computer, typical NHS!

Hope everyone else had a decent day🎄

Thank you, all of you here & the hundreds of thousands of others, you are appreciated more than you know xx

Me, I don’t mind working Christmas as I’m a paediatric nurse and it’s usually a great atmosphere. I can’t believe the size of the sacks of presents the kids got from the hospital!! It was ok in the end, but didn’t enjoy it as merged with the next door ward. And never met their nurses that were on and my own colleges were off sick. I stayed In a hotel last night, and felt sorry for the staff having to work.

TheHillIsMine · 26/12/2025 13:51

First Christmas Day ever worked full stop never mind in this job. It was okay. I really made a difference and helped someone who was feeling rubbish. Will be going again in a couple of hours as covering someone who is injured then doing my shift.
