meant to be out for meal tonight with friends as one significant birthday. however i have had a cold since late thursday evening thats when i first felt it but did have scratchy throat weds but eased off as day went in. feel fine in myself no sneezing or coughing just a little blocked nose left but clearing. i was going to cancel but friends insist should come , not concerned with catching anything and think as I am at end of it anyway ( day 6ish) we will be sat at table in group so away from others by a couple feet i would guess, although is indoors. I know its not 2020 anymore but would you go - not had a high temp at all and purely been like an old fashioned cold, just bunged up then snotty and now just a little blocked nose left. been working but wfh this week

Were you going to cancel because you felt unwell? If so then stick to that a plan as you'll just feel miserable. If you were going to cancel because you were worried about making others unwell and your friend is insisting you go because the incubation and infection period has passed then I would go.

It sounds like the tail-end to me - you've not had a temperature and it's residual symptoms now - so a really hot shower to clear the pipes. Take a decongestant with you - Vicks Micromist or similar - and enjoy yourself. Just do a Cinderella and make sure you're home early because you'll still need to rest to heal.

It wouldn't have even entered my head not to go if I was feeling better, to be honest! I know the pandemic was a wake up call for many about those more vulnerable in society than ourselves, which is genuinely brilliant, but the pendulum has swung so far the other way it's getting ridiculous. You had a cold for a few days and are now feeling better, your friends aren't concerned/immunocompromised, so go.

If anyone at a nearby table was that vulnerable that someone with a blocked nose several feet away was a legitimate concern they wouldn't be going out for dinner 2 days before Christmas! Blow your nose before you go and sanitise your hands after if it allays any worries, but have a nice time with your friends!

If you're feeling better, no temp/sore throat/sneezing/coughing and everyone else us genuinely ok for you to go, then go. It's great you're being considered though, as no wants to wake up feeling grotty Xmas Day if they can avoid it

Id be the same, it wouldn't even be anything that would occur to me

In my circle people go out when the feel well, stay at home if they don't. I haven't noticed any change since 2020 at all.

The only time I ever see this kind of concern is on here actually, not in real life

yes im feeling well and just bit of blocked nose , need to blow every few hrs thing left. i have hand sanitiser so if do need to blow my nose whilst there i can sanitise. i think a nice hot shower should clear me for long enough though. will only be there for couple hrs and then back to friends home but won’t be a late one as have to work tomorrow
