I'm sitting here trying to make a list of things to get tomorrow. I have a sainsbury slot booked for Tuesday but no idea what to put in it!
We don't make a big deal about xmas it's usually just a roast and a few extra things.

Its been a difficult stressful year so we're all feeling a bit meh.
I don't really feel like doing much cooking so we've agreed just to do party/picky food.
I wandered round shops yesterday and looked but didn't really fancy any of it.

Give me ideas- I have sainsbury, also, lidl, iceland, m&s and waitrose near by!

Help!

No "festive" food for Christmas Eve onwards yet.

There's a grocery delivery arriving on Tuesday. I might pick up a choc tin or some mixed boxes tmrw.

It's just me at home, so I don't need lots of special Christmas extras.

Me ! But then I am lucky to have a super proficient chef friend who is doing the "orphans's lunch" on 25th. Christmas is celebrated on 24th here, and of course very family orientated. Then the whole city kicks off in the frenzy of Christmas carnival. In my dreams I would have Ginger Johnson's winning menu on Celebrity MC. In reality we will be having a big fish cooked whole in banana leaves on the bbq, and heaps of salads. I will have (fake) caviar on toast for breakfast and shed a tear for my dear departed ones, then get cracking
i have a fancy to make brown bread ice cream - which I have done a zillion years ago - so am actually going to the posh supermarket to get the cream today. That counts ! Best of luck everyone 🌠🌈😻

i’ve done the square root of buggar all towards Christmas this year😬we may or may not get a Turkey! I’m working until 2PM on 23rd and dh finishes at midday on 24th! The dinning table is currently buried under a sea of laundry, and no decorations are adorning any corner of the house! However by midnight on the 24th the tree will be up, the table looking festive and baking and prepping will have been completed…..hahaha who the eff am I kidding! One year, I may actually be organised for Christmas, but clearly I’ve failed for this one😂

No but I'm off work next week and we are out for Xmas dinner at a local pub and just. Buffet Boxing Day. I also haven't made a list.

bleakmidwintering · 21/12/2025 18:07

Not until 23rd here. There’s more than enough food in supermarkets!

Shatteredallthetimelately · 21/12/2025 19:15

Anothey here not feeling it this year due to health problems.

I've never really liked going to the supermarket during that Christmas day/new year period so I've been buying savory snacks and a few tubs of chocolates over the last few months, plus the joints of meat when they went on offer hoping the food will stretch out.

Went out on Friday to get the veg, savory pies/dips and a few cheeses, also have a Turkey on order for collection, hopefully on Tuesday.

It's only 6 for dinner/overnight stay this year and despite being prepared ish I haven't gone over board with foods this year and won't do a last minute looky looky in the supermarket.

ohyesido · 22/12/2025 05:05

Nope. We’re spending the week at centerparcs and picking up our shopping from Aldi on the way

TheScenicWay · 22/12/2025 07:43

Me. I booked a trip away and focussed on that. I forgot to buy any gifts. We do gifts only for our own kids then get together with family on the day, bringing food to share.
Christmas Eve will be manic. Did a quick Amazon shop, planning on some quick t shirt/hoodie shopping. dc are teens and prefer money so it’s easier for me.

PurpleFlower1983 · 22/12/2025 07:53

M&S yesterday for party food/desserts. I will go for the turkey tomorrow probably. The veg arrived in my shopping order last night.
