HELP! What to take for Christmas…?

I’d been invited to spend Christmas with a family member 200 miles away, but couldn’t go (no kennel availability for my dog). Today the kennels called and offered me first refusal on the space. Invite is still open and family member has said they’re really looking forward to seeing me, says I don’t need to bring anything as all food and drink etc are sorted. I feel really awkward arriving anywhere empty-handed, but particularly so at Christmas - I do have a couple of bottles of champagne that are going in my case anyway, but I’m paralysed by indecision at this point and I only have a limited chance to sort anything out before I go on Tuesday.

What would you do…?

Don’t panic - go and enjoy it! Your company will mean more to them than anything you bring. You could Bring a box of chocolates, or you could send a box of cheese, make / bring a pudding. If not getting food look on Amazon prime and buy a game you can all play - someone brought herd mentality to ours before which was good fun.

How long are you there? Take them out for a pub lunch one day?

Oh, that’s a brilliant idea, thank you! Off to Amazon Prime to see what games I can find…

@MrsSkylerWhite I’m there from Tuesday to Saturday (so three actual full days) but that’s a great idea too. There seems to be a full schedule of things planned, but I’m sure I can manage to cover something (the pub meal sounds good, but they own the local pub, so maybe that might be tricky…😁)

Ooooh lucky you, go and have a fab time! Pub and game idea excellent. I'd absolutely love a guest who obeyed the no food rule but turned up with champagne, quality street and a game.

Take away then, for a change.

Champagne and chocolates are always welcome here. Flowers would be lovely in the new year.

Flowers in the New Year is a definite…. Games sorted - what would I do without Amazon Prime? - just need to find some posh chocolates now…
