We left canada almost 4 years ago. Our Daughter (my bio, husband adopted) our sons (his bio, with an amazing mum who also calls me their mum no matter our personal differences) Husband send money to our daughter today to buy all three grands something nice from us. Our kids are arriving here for a sun holiday in Feb for a week. People say, do you not miss christmas. NO I DO NOT. I was the skivvy for many many years. I love video calling, seeing them open the presents from us that our daughter is kind enough to choose and wrap.. and then... relax.. this year..fish cooked on the beach for lunch and then home for leftovers for dinner from our xmas eve get together of friends and god children here.

Ok. Enjoy.

WallaceinAnderland · 17/12/2025 18:39

So, do you live in a country that doesn't celebrate Christmas?

sciaticafanatica · 17/12/2025 19:01

That’s a long winded way of saying you are doing your own thing this year

CheeseWisely · 17/12/2025 19:03

Are you trying to convince us or yourself?

Zucker · 17/12/2025 19:03

Okie Doke. You do you hun!

RedTagAlan · 17/12/2025 19:16

Fish cooked on the beach for lunch?

So you are not in Aberdeen then.

No mention of a barbie, so not ozz.

But somewhere sunny in Feb.... hmmm.

Sorry, your post kicked me into Sherlock mode :-)

South America, Asia, or Southern Africa.

Asia in feb has CNY. And no Crimbo. Except for the Philippines,.

I suspect Thailand.

Not trying to dox here.

Lighthearted post :-)

with an amazing mum who also calls me their mum

I can’t get my head around this

3gumstonight · 17/12/2025 19:18

Were you with your dh?

OttersMayHaveShifted · 17/12/2025 19:21

It's good that you get to spend it how you want. Personally, fish on the beach with none of my family would not be how I'd want to spend Christmas! My dd is coming home from abroad on Sunday and we will be spending 23rd to 28th with all our extended family. Can't wait! No skivvying here.

3gumstonight · 17/12/2025 19:23

You are not with your children @momager1
not even close to them

so sounds shit to me

Anonanonanonagain · 17/12/2025 19:43

Is it your children or grandchildren you are estranged from it is very unclear from your post which sounds either desperately sad that you have to try convince yourself you will have a better time with your husband or desperately selfish.

I was going to say Australia but then thought Africa for some reason.

JacknDiane · 17/12/2025 19:46

Aye right

Nourishinghandcream · 17/12/2025 19:47

Fine.👍
Everyone should spend Christmas in the way that pleases them.

Happy Christmas.🎄

TittyGajillions · 17/12/2025 19:48

What's your point?

Gazelda · 17/12/2025 19:49

I’m not sure I understand what you’re trying to say.

but I’ll be honest - if I was your daughter and received £ to buy something nice for the kids for Christmas on 17 December, I’d be a bit miffed. Isn’t it a bit late? Isn’t it slightly lacking in thought or effort?

maybe I’m missing the point or tone of your post. Maybe I’ve misunderstood completely. If so, apologies.

but I wish you a merry Christmas regardless.

Duvetdayforme · 17/12/2025 19:52

Have you been at the Baileys?

smallglassbottle · 17/12/2025 21:08

Probably South Shields 😂

Lol.. Dominican Republic. As for the person saying I am not close with my children.. you could not be more wrong. I moved a few years ago, my grands are teens and I provided care before and after school for many years.. I love my daughter, our sons.. and our grands. I send money up for birthdays and christmas. I also go to Canada at least 2 times a year and spoil them. Sorry but no baileys here lol..I wish. I have had 6 cups of tetley today though so maybe caffeine fueled?

My husband was in canada in October and they said they would send list. I asked our daughter if she was ok with us sending her money for her kids and her brothers child .. she said YES. Wow some of you are horrible. But thats ok.
