Convert me to Wicked

I missed the whole Wicked craze when it first came out, but found it last night, and watched the first film.
It as fine i didn't fall asleep but, what's all the hype about? What am i missing? And is the second film any better?

It’s a weak, flimsy allegory with generally poor music, though. I mean, saying something is about fascism doesn’t automatically make it a good musical.

Loved the stage show
I thought the first film was superb , the second really good , maybe 95%

Given that I only watched the first one a few weeks ago, I clearly wasn’t watching it in the cinema. I was at home.
