Tell me about the worst neighbour you’ve ever had

Powerto · 11/12/2025 13:12

I’ve been generally lucky with neighbours.

The ones I have now are the worst though (not a nightmare thankfully) …. Did a full renovation that went late into the night for over a year and their builders hid waste in my bins, left their empty water bottle littering my driveway, the neighbours themselves have thrown stuff over their fence into my garden.

I can tolerate them now due to their renovation being over but ultimately they are very petty people.

We had the neighbours from hell! Thought they owned the whole road as they owned two houses next to each other.

Wrote off 3 of our cars with paint stripper (the third one was a replacement for the first car that got attacked).

Stabbed our tyres frequently.

Fired nails from a nail gun into our garden (our kids were toddlers)

Threw leftover food from BBQs into our garden, including eaten chicken drumsticks

Hurled abuse at us

Did illegal house clearances and set fire to the whole lot in their garden, including carpets, mattresses etc

I could go on and on! Fuckers. The day they moved out was a brilliant day! It really affected my MH living next door to them

That’s awful. What are you going to do? You can’t live next to him surely.

We're stuck. It's a family house so would probably have families interested in it if we were to try and move, and I don't feel I could sell to a family without telling them. And then that's the end of that sale! I'm hoping he has to move, it was in all the local press so lots of people know now. But it's sucks and I really really hate it.

MrsMoastyToasty · 11/12/2025 17:06

Not me but DM who still lives in my childhood home in suburbia had a brothel open next door. Months and months of men turning up at all times of the day and night. Some knocking on the wrong doors (the front doors are at the side). Police were involved as the landlord wasn't interested (he was getting their rent so didn't give a monkeys).

PigeonsandSquirrels · 11/12/2025 17:07

The one who used to live below us.

He was a lawyer and constantly threatened us with court for noise disturbance because I would walk from my bed to the toilet at night sometimes and it woke him up.

RescueMeFromThisSilliness · 11/12/2025 17:09

Drug dealer who screamed at her small children all day long, and had a threatening boyfriend. We were all glad to see the back of her.

mbosnz · 11/12/2025 17:11

That would be the neo-nazi scum fuckers and bottom feeders who lived just in front of me that blocked our drive way for their drug deals regularly, their rotties killed my first cat, they stabbed my second cat twice, burgled our house, beat their dogs with a piece of two by four, threatened me with rape, and prowled out under my bedroom window.

They were not nice people.

Jesus Christ, these first few posts are a real kick to the groin. I was hoping for some light-hearted tales.

Same. I was going to post about my neighbour who did different animal noises out of the window when anyone left their house.

HollyChristmas · 11/12/2025 17:14

When we first for married we had a flat . Next door neighbour and her teenage son lives next door and we both had balconies .
Dh was drilling to put up some shelves and next door neighbour knocked on the door holding her small dog and saying we were scaring it and could she come in and the dog watch !
Reader , we let her in ! 😂 😂 In our defence we were early 20s !
Her son would try to break into ours by jumping over the balcony and pushing on the door .

We only stayed a few years .

PrincessofWells · 11/12/2025 17:14

The current ones are both police officers, and the dog is left barking all day some days, particularly at the weekend. When the wife is out he screams at their two daughters, theirs other stuff too. We'd finally had enough and decided to sell up when their for sale sign went up. Even more celebrating when the sold sign went up. Currently waiting for them to move out 😎

muddyford · 11/12/2025 17:16

Mine's very petty compared with these, but our old neighbour didn't used to just trim twigs back that grew into his airspace, but actually cut leaves in half that had the temerity to poke over the fence. Other entitled stuff but this one always struck me as summing up her weird personality.

Dappy777 · 11/12/2025 17:21

The loud ones. I can put up with horrible people so long as they keep quiet and stay away from me. In fact, I think I'd rather have a silent neighbour I disliked than a loud neighbour I Iiked. I just cannot bear noise.

The absolute worst is someone toxic and intrusive and noisy. Then you are in Hell.

Theresalittlebitofwitchinyou · 11/12/2025 17:22

Made false allegations of child and animal abuse to social services because we don’t agree with their particular branch of religious cult

Carolynpig · 11/12/2025 17:25

Partied late at night all weekend with young children in the house, had loud performative sex in the lounge with lights on and patio doors open, ( poor people at the back). Left the children to run feral and slam doors repetitively in the day and also bang on my sons wall late at night and last but not least allowed six months of faeces from two noisy dogs to accumulate in the back garden🤢, the children’s toys were lying in it! They only decided to clean it up when they wanted a drunken bbq, my partner heard him retching in the back garden and looked out, he was scooping it into a big bucket, he filled the bucket twice and lifted the grid in his garden to tip it down the drain🤮. I’m so glad we left there😂

Lengokengo · 11/12/2025 17:31

Mine is in a much lower league than many of these!

Many years so my neighbour in the flat below was a young lad living by himself for the first time. Every evening after he got in from work, he would put on Gary Numans Cars song at full blast on repeat for about an hour until I would hammer on the floor to make it stop.

Unicornsatonalilo · 11/12/2025 17:31

Not a neighbour as such, but I once lived in a street where one bloke covered his windows with pictures of Princess Diana (when she was still alive) used sanpro and newspapers

He would walk round muttering to himself-he must have had really bad mental health problems

He was sent to prison for having sex with one of his dogs, was banned from keeping animals for life, got out and promptly bought 3 more before going back to prison for having sex with those poor dogs

Another neighbour hated me and made it her lives mission to get me and the dc out

Her adult dd would scream abuse through the walls and over the fence

Her own grandchildren where the noisy ones but in her head,it was my lot that where the problem

She would threaten me in the street for daring to leave my house and twice she dumped a cup of her piss over my head

I ended up having her arrested for walking out of her house and punching me in the face

The final straw (!) was when one neighbour left his house, murdered his neighbour in cold blood and went home again

We moved the following week

I thought my neighbours were all pretty decent until I found out that three of them had been cyber stalking me for over a year with fake accounts and work accounts. It all came out when I complained about one of them allowing her teens to mill around in the road with about 15 friends late one night, which constantly set alarms off for over an hour. The mum of the teens then made a malicious report about me to social services which got closed very fast as it was proven to be vindictive bullshit. I logged it with the police just to prevent any further harassment, and told one neighbour that I was going to get lawyers involved. That’s when she threw the other three cunts under the bus and revealed how they’d all been stalking me.

The funny thing is, one was up until recently, a police constable and her busybody mother works for them in another capacity. Worse is the one that made the malicious report - her children’s father is a convicted paedo. I bet she still has no idea that the other two in the police tried to get us all to log concerns to prevent him being in the area at all.

Nasty, gossipy, vile cunts, the lot of them.

Needtosoundoffandbreathe · 11/12/2025 17:44

I once lived next to a charming couple. The guy threatened me on my own doorstep when I refused to let their fencing contractor remove my wall in order for their new fence to be straight. They were horrible.

wheredidtheteago · 11/12/2025 17:48

Not me, but my partner once lived next to a lad who had done time in prison after converting to Islam and built a bomb and was being watched everyday by police. The last straw was when his equally bonkers brother got in some trouble with some boys and the converted brother came out with a machete threatening to chop their heads off, back to prison he went!

Happyjoe · 11/12/2025 17:51

The ones I have now.
Moved in a year ago, the noise was instant. Thump thump thump on their horrible cheap laminate flooring with plastic underlay. Screaming, non stop screaming, 3 and a half year old doesn't go to bed until parents do, anything up to midnight. Can't watch TV, read a book, sleep when they are awake because noise is so loud. Then the skunk smoking started, stinking out my house as it crept under the shared space under the floor. I remember last winter, in PJ's, just got into bed and bam, had to get up and open all the windows and back door for fresh air. I got council involved, the dope pretty much stopped and they promised the housing officer to get a nice rug for child to run on regarding noise. Never happened. Of course not.
Now this week, after a year of having their spilled, rotting trash in shared area behind our gardens, the council have finally stepped in and insisted they clean it up.

Thing is, we are currently buying another house in a different area, and I seriously don't think we will be able to sell this one because of our neighbours. Entitled, shitty people, I really don't like them, or their family. I even had next doors mother stand and stare at me for a full minute at the post office (I was behind her in the queue) as an imitation attempt.

Had an HMO of Polish guys next door for several years - like a poster mentioned above, an absolute delight. Polite, clean, friendly and civic-minded.

The landlord sold up to the council, and the place was refitted. A single mum was moved in because she had kids in double figures and the layout suited a large family. They actually started ok, the house was immaculate, and the kids were lovely.

But when the mother got a boyfriend and moved him in, it went downhill shockingly rapidly - he was involved in nasty things with scary people and the DV started as soon as he got his foot in the door.

It is staggering how one single person can change a whole neighbourhood. He managed to bring the whole place down into the gutter in mere months. He was eventually very violently assaulted for not paying money owed to one of the aforementioned scary people.(We know this because of the screaming while the assault was happening, that he would pay, he just needed time.) The single mum took the opportunity handed to her and vanished while he was hospitalised in a coma. We moved not long after.

A few houses later.......We had a neighbour who decided that simply because we didn't have a car and she did that our drive should be hers, and she parked there despite our objections (she had a small baby, dont you know) - She was convinced that we should just suck it up, and when we added a barrier to our drive, started a feud that should only really be reserved for warring royalty over the crown - not a scappy drive in a sad little town in the Midlands. She tried to poison our cats to' show us'

Then we had a little old lady who used to use our emergency key to let herself in after we left for work, fuss our cats and steal our little old dog for company and sneak him back home before we got in. We didn't know until she was dobbed in by her daughter because we had mentioned we were worried and paying for vet tests as the dog was so shattered in the evenings. Our diva of a cat Queenie, ended up adopting her, and they both lived together, doting on each other outrageously for several years. (No word of a lie, she bought the Queenie her own throne)

Edited

I actually found the little old lady sweet albeit wrong....im sure if she just said ill look after the dog in daytime youd have prob said yes. I would have done anyway.

dick27 · 11/12/2025 18:00

I am almost 4 years in living with harassment & stalking from my neighbour. Reading all the above I'm less surprised at the authorities' inaction. It doesn't stop it being utterly shit though.

Philandbill · 11/12/2025 18:02

The one with the drum kit in a terraced house who played at the weekend and until past 11 at night. We moved.
