Honestly there are no words for just how SICK I am of the bloody rain!!!!

It feels like all it has done for 3 solid years is rain; we never just get a couple of days either, it’s always weeks and weeks and usually over Christmas, half term, summer holidays etc - it’s soul destroying. We had a lovely summer, but so far every outdoor Christmas event has been rained off or the enjoyment has been significantly reduced by the rain.

YES you can ‘get into puddlesuits, have hot chocolate’ but ffs let’s not pretend a nice frost, blue sky, or even just dryer weather wouldn’t make everything much much better.

paddleboardingmum · 05/12/2025 20:07

So true. The cold I can put up with, especially with blue skies, can be quite nice. Or the odd day here and there of rain, no problem. But it's non-stop it seems like.

I work outside for one of my jobs and I'm fed up of being cold and wet. It's just miserable. Especially when it's just that drizzle so shit can be done but you just get extra frozen.

We also live in a area of high flood risk so every time it rains hard we're on high alert, it's exhausting wondering if you'll have to spend the night prepping the house once again. I spend half my life of flood maps and live updates of the local rivers every time it rains hard.

thistimelastweek · 05/12/2025 20:13

Just loving sploshing through the streets with a small mucky dog who'd rather stay in bed.
And don't even look at my hair. WTF?

KylieKangaroo · 05/12/2025 20:15

I agree, I love the cold sunny days but hate the rain. Never get any snow here either 😢

XelaM · 05/12/2025 20:19

Omg yes! HATE THE RAIN ☔️ and we have horses 😭

PlazaAthenee · 05/12/2025 20:21

Walked to the gym. Nearly lost my umbrella several times. Outdoor trainers were sodden, thank God I had indoor trainers and dry socks in my bag. Squelched home.

Parkrun in the morning, that'll be another soaked pair of trainers, hat and coat.

FoxRedPuppy · 05/12/2025 20:21

It hardly rained this summer! We have a hosepipe ban because there wasn’t enough in summer or last winter!

I don’t love it, but we need rain.

paddleboardingmum · 05/12/2025 20:24

Being outside and in a flood risk area sounds extremely challenging @OnlyTomSaidThat

EchoedSilence · 05/12/2025 20:24

It's shite. No amount of banging on about cosying up under blankets drinking 'hot choc' makes up for getting bloody drenched in the dark on the way and back home from work.

Not really kicking through the leaves weather is it?

RessicaJabbit · 05/12/2025 20:26

Agreed, it's miserable out there

Ineedanewsofa · 05/12/2025 20:29

Having horses in this weather is miserable, I spend a good chunk of time wading through mud in the pitch dark getting piss wet through. The dog is also a massive princess and won’t poo outside when it’s raining unless she’s under an umbrella(!) so that’s fun too.

EchoedSilence · 05/12/2025 20:31

My cat has turned into a recluse and blames me for the rain.

Thecomfortador · 05/12/2025 20:32

We had a lovely frosty sunny morning today so I pegged a full wash loads out. Of course I completely forgot about it, it's still out there and now 100% rain for the next few hours. Do I go and get it in and shove it in the dryer? Or wait for morning and it'll probably need washing again? I should just stick a coat in and get out there shouldn't I.

Edited to add, yes sick of rain.

Keroppi · 05/12/2025 20:40

I hate driving in the dark with heavy rain - wipers on high speed stresses me out Confused
And having to brake harder earlier, with people driving like psychopaths!
Cyclists with no high vis on cutting through and almost being wiped out.
Massive puddles
My bin has blown over and I cba to go out to pick it up.
Feels so miserable going from A to B whereas when it's dark and very cold but dry it's more wintery and magical, admiring the Xmas lights etc.

MotherTuckinGenius · 05/12/2025 20:43

I’ve put my Christmas decs up today to cheer myself up. It’s been pissing down here for the last couple of —centuries— days but we’re still under a hosepipe ban 🤨

Middlemarch123 · 05/12/2025 20:46

I’m a dog walker, got my water proofs, doggies got their waterproof jackets too. Springer Spaniel, fine. Lab, nope, not going out, even with treats and favourite ball. Dug his paws in, quick tiddle in the garden, and back to bed. Pugs, loved their new jackets so quick waddle around the block, then zonked out on their heated throw. Westie, flaunted his new waterproof tartan sheepskin coat, until the end of the driveway. Sat down, refused to budge, so back in again, still demanded treats. None of them apart from Springer went as far as the beach. He even swam in the sea. I spent half an hour earlier watching pugs watch The Chase. Little pug loves Bradley, he looks a lot like her owner.

paddleboardingmum · 05/12/2025 21:08

Loved hearing about all those dogs @Middlemarch123

Thank you! They are all such characters, love them to bits.

MiddleAgedDread · 05/12/2025 21:11

What rain??

Northerndoglover · 05/12/2025 21:15

If one person says “we need it” or “there isn’t bad weather, only bad clothing”, I’ll totally lose my shit. I’m a cleaner and it’s so much worse when the weather is like this. Wet leaves everywhere, muddy carpets, footprints. Ugh.

Oh, and I have a spaniel who point blank refuses to go out in the rain. Rivers? Yes. Rain? Big fat nope.

SorrowfulWife · 06/12/2025 07:04

It's not just the constant rain, but the volume of it! At least 3 days this week when it's been chugging down in buckets. I have become a hermit, I absolutely hate it.
We do not need so much of it and it looks like there is no end in sight.

And nearly 3 months on from your original post, it is still raining. What a nightmare!

Livpool · 20/02/2026 13:53

It is so depressing. And it really affects my asthma. Last weekend we had one day when it didn’t rain (first time all year) and it was LOVELY

I feel your pain. In 34 years of owning horses, this has been the wettest winter. Utterly sick of having wet coats etc hanging around the kitchen to dry.
