AIBU
should everyone donate at Christmas
I get my 6 grandkids to make a Christmas list of presents then give one up to buy things for the local food bank
is this ok to teach them giving and caring at Christmas they are age from 7 to 14. My motto is Caring is sharing or should they discover this on there en as they get older.
so AIBU

Oh dear I suppose how some people view this idea reflects the people they are.
I’m amazed at how some can turn a positive into a negative. I’ll end the thread now. Have a very happy Christmas. 🎄

Ending with ‘have a very happy Christmas’ hardly detracts from your rude post.

You clearly don't think you're being unreasonable, so this comes across a bit virtue signal-y.

If you want to donate, then good, it's a lovely thing to do. But making a child give up a Christmas gift is maybe not quite how I'd do it.

It’s amazing how threads become so nasty I’m now removing myself from this.
it’s a shame that people can turn this around. Byeee

No one has turned it around, and the only rude and unpleasant posts have come from you.

It's just that most people don't consider coercing children into giving away Christmas gifts as a charitable act, or something to be smug about.

Donating to charity is great, yes, but donating someone else's gift is pretty unkind.
