Ideas to make 18th birthday special please!

Hi, my eldest turns 18 this month. She is really unmaterialistic which is lovely but does make buying her gifts really hard! Especially so close to Xmas!

So I'm looking for other ideas to make her big day special. She doesn't want a party. I've bought banners/balloons etc and we will do a family meal, but it doesn't feel enough. We did an escape room last year so that's kind of out.

Any ideas would be really appreciated!

Thank you 😊

Would she like to go a Christmas light show/trail in the evening of her birthday if you have one near you?

mine wanted cocktails in London! What about a pamper day at a spa?

My dc is also like this. We go to a matinee at a show they might like to see and then go for a nice meal.

What kind of thing does she enjoy? Christmas market? Lunch somewhere nice? Cocktails? Cinema or theatre?

Assuming you have plenty of pictures of her, you can make a video with them. Go chronologically and start with pictures of her as a baby, photos with grandparents, kindergarten friends, then school, etc. You can also use photos she herself posts on her social media or even ask her friends to send some in. Add a song she likes, nicknames the family and friends have for her if there are any, running jokes, etc. That would be both sentimental and touching while not being a bunch of useless "stuff". Here are some other ideas for a birthday slideshow, but you can keep it simple and just fill it with photos of her since her childhood. You can play it to her and then send her a copy on Whatsapp so that she'd have it somewhere as well.

Does she like spa treatments, could you do something like a massage/facial etc so she has a day to relax (you could go together).

I have one DC like this and we went away for a night in a hotel and also he did a feed the penguins experience in the rain but he didn't care it rained and had whole place almost to himself. If you are near Longleat they have a festival of light as well.

My son turns 18 beginning of Jan, he’s autistic do no parties on the horizon, he’s expressed interest in a rage room so maybe double check if he still wants to do that. He basically said he wants a Nando’s takeaway at home, we offered him miller and Carter, everything and that’s what he chose.
