How often do you change clothes?

Inspired by the thread about what you wear when you're cooking... how often do you change clothes? I've just realised I do it a lot!!

So, get up, out of PJ's and into the shower. Then put on 'home clothes' - joggers and hoodie in the winter, shorts and t shirt in the summer. Then get kids up, do breakfast etc. Then get changed for work.

Home from work, change into home clothes. If I go out on the evening then I'll get changed again, then when I'm home either back into home clothes or into PJ's, then PJ's before bed.
That's 6 changes a day! Surely I'm not the only one?? Anyone wear the same clothes all day??

No clothes at night, one set of clothes for the day. Very simple.

Me too, unless gardening or going somewhere special in the evening.

mydogisanidiott · 29/11/2025 22:47

Yes I get changed multiple times per day! Im quite envious of those who don’t have a mess maker in their household who creates havoc in every item of clothing - mine has four legs and a tail and is a very drooly 36kg dog!

so i have home clothes, work clothes, dog walking clothes, gym clothes, non work clothes.

it tends to be
pjs-work-home - pjs
or
pjs- home - non work -home pjs

Sleep naked so no clothes.
wake up - shower and into clothes for the day, either office or wfh (weekend clothes are the same as my wfh clothes).
then remove everything for sleep.
Only exercise days there will be change of clothes for that and if I’m going out out I’ll change. But generally I am dressed for the day and that’s it.

HelenHywater · 29/11/2025 22:59

My home clothes are my pjs. So my clothes are Pjs- work clothes (slightly more formal if I'm in the office) - pjs. If it's the weekend and I'm doing exercise it's pjs - exercise clothes - pjs. (I take the pyjama bottoms off for bed).

So unless I'm going out, or exercising on a work day, I just wear 2 things every day.

HansHolbein · 29/11/2025 23:11

Change pyjamas every two days
Change top half every two days
Change jeans every four days
If I am wearing a dress, I would probably wear it just for one day.

Obviously I would change if the clothes got stained/dirty.

I work from home and I don’t wear lounge wear during the day.

Cappie73 · 29/11/2025 23:16

WFH so joggers/leggings t-shirt/vest

sleep - naked

(rarely go out so zero clothing)

SouthernNights59 · 29/11/2025 23:20

I'm retired so pjs, dressing gown, clothes, pjs at bedtime.

When I worked it was pjs, work clothes, home clothes, pjs.

RosesAndHellebores · 29/11/2025 23:26

I have never had home clothes, obvs more casual.clothes when I'm not at work.

Get up, change put.ofln nightie and dressimg gown into what I'm wearing that day. Half an hour before bed, I have a shower, and chanhe into my nightie and dressing gown. Dressing gown comes off before I get into bed.

I don't tend to wear my nightclothes downstairs.

CharlotteSometimes1 · 29/11/2025 23:30

Pjs to gym clothes to day clothes to pjs

Lavender14 · 29/11/2025 23:34

My work clothes are quite casual in fairness so Pj's work/ outside clothes then Pj's again on working days. If its the weekend then Pj's, lounge clothes, out and about clothes, then Pj's

RuthW · 29/11/2025 23:44

The only time I ever change my clothes after getting dressed in the morning is if I’m going to a dance on a Saturday night (about three times a month)

Gossipisgood · 02/12/2025 11:53

Weekdays - PJs change in to work clothes, get home put comfies on then PJs bed.
Weekends - PJ's change in to comfies til I decide where I'm going then change into clothes to suit days activity. Home & into comfies again then PJs then bed.

Ruggerchick · 02/12/2025 12:01

Get up, dressing gown on, feed the cat, have breakfast, shower then dressed, stay in same clothes all day, get naked and into bed. I’m retired.

MidnightMeltdown · 02/12/2025 14:08

Thats mad. I don’t know how you have the time to get changed so many times in a day! Why not get up and just put your work clothes on?

I only put home clothes on if I’m not going into work, or when I get home, if I know that I’m not going out again.

Natsku · 02/12/2025 14:32

Change out of pyjamas into day clothes
Get to work and change into work clothes
Finish work and change back into day clothes
Some point in the evening I'll shower and change into pyjamas

So 4 times

TaupeRaven · 02/12/2025 14:34

I can sometimes change five times a day, but the only clothes that get washed after one wear would be my running gear, knickers, and the top/t-shirt under my cardi/jumper/blazer (unless, obviously, something got dirty or I ended up wearing one thing for the whole day and it needed freshened up!)

SoManyTshirts · 02/12/2025 18:36

PJs
Workout clothes
Outdoor clothes appropriate to activity if going out during the day - shopping
walking lunch.
Fancy clothes if out in the evening.
PJs if not.

Workout gear gets worn for light housework or cooking as it’s about to be washed anyway.

GameOfJones · 02/12/2025 18:48

On a usual day it is:

Get up wearing pyjamas

Dress for the day

Get back into pyjamas in the early evening.

If I'm going out for dinner then I will change from my day clothes into evening clothes and once a week I do an exercise class in which case it's PJs, workout gear, normal clothes, PJs.

Sailininthechoppa · 02/12/2025 19:12

Pj's
Home clothes / office clothes / town clothes
Gym or running clothes
Home clothes
Pj's

Office, gym and running clothes need to be washed after every wear. Home and Pj's are OK for two or three.

QueenStevie · 02/12/2025 19:26

I hate getting changed and will do anything to avoid it. I don't get changed when I get in from work. DH does automatically. I get up in my pjs, dressed into work clothes, get changed before bed back into PJs. It's one of the reasons I don't go to the gym as much as I should! At the weekend, I hate it when we are going out in the evening so I have to get changed! I've no idea why I hate it so much, it's just a faff. And swimming... don't even go there.
