News feed just popped up on phone.

Why have 5 children if you can’t afford them?. (Removed the names as not fair to post on here.)

I feel for them children not being able to do the things they love and enjoy But surely most people stop at 2/3 kids if they struggle.

Here we go…. Proves my point!

OP - on a 'so called' parenting site sharing this devisive content for clicks. Hope you are happy @MNHQ

What are you talking about? What ever happened to Free speech and all that. Unfortunately you don’t like what some of us have to say. Which is becoming more apparent in the recent times…. Lefties have a whole lot to say and protest about yet anyone who challenges that is shut down!

I mean I am child free so my taxes are going to support other people's children regardless of how many they have. Can't say I am that bothered about it. I am rather glad someone is raising the next generation so I don't have to.

Lifting the cap expected to cost the tax payer over 3 billion by 2029. It's just crazy when we supposedly have no money and tax thresholds look like they'll stay the same forever more. But Labour have been a shitshow from the beginning unfortunately.

itsthetea · 28/11/2025 14:51

Left leaning people yes do tend to want everyone to have the basics, to want all children to have opportunities, to in effect prioritise love over money

and I am proud of that

don’t you feel ashamed to peddle hatred of children ? To suggest that children should live in poverty ?

You are telling me that a family of 7 were not on UC, receiving any child benefits and the rest….. and then they just fell on hard times! You are living in co co land! A reasonable family would question a second child, a third….. but five kids! It is a joke! And people are getting fed up of supporting it.

Co co land?

No I'm not telling you any of that.

My reply was purely to the poster who replied to someone and started going on about MH, when said poster didn't mention it.

I don't disagree especially with anything you're saying.

Do you acknowledge that you're imagining that and the text you posted doesn't say that?

Wow…. I want that too! Hence why I donate to children’s aid! Children in need! I want all that too. The education needs to come in somewhere to teach people that you can’t live off benefits, and that back in the day it was a safety net to fall on if you hit hard times!

The family in your example hit those hard times.

They also had the children before the cap was lifted yesterday.

Education need investment, tax that you don't want to pay.

I personally don’t think k they hit hard times….!! They chose to have 5 kids and then struggled to look after them. I’m happy to admit I’m wrong but I can guarantee 80% of ppl on UC haven’t ever worked!

Guarantee?

How about backing up that claim with some evidence

The stats suggest that it couldn't logically be more than around 40% as only a small proportion of working-age adults have never worked (and most of these are teenagers and people in full-time study). The only way this could be 80% of people claiming UC is if the number of people claiming UC went right down. (Which is presumably what OP wants? Can't really tell).

I don't understand the attraction of just making up stuff for yourself, which everyone can see is nonsense because we are able to think critically, just to annoy yourself and get yourself worked up. Either you care about whether it's actually the case, or you don't and you just enjoy feeling angry. But if it's that, then there are thousands of fully documented injustices in the world to feel angry about. It seems an odd use of time and energy to make stuff up.

Nahhhhh

it's nonsense then
