DS came down to tell me the cat was pissing on his chair, by time I got upstairs he was still going! An absolutely huge pee 😭

It soaked right through the chair and was dripping on the floor.

I've thrown the cushions in the bathroom and sprayed neutraliser on it but its gone through to the mdf wood inside.

Is it a write off 😭

Am so annoyed at him!!

Burn the chair. Smell won’t come out, sorry!

bad kitty

PodMom · 26/11/2025 06:14

Once he’s done it once he’ll keep doing it as well. Because even if you can get the smell out for you the cat will still smell it.

I'm so upset :(

Theres a bloody litter tray in the hall. Stupid bloody cat.

Try to swab up as much as you can using old towels. If you've got some kind of carpet and upholstery cleaning machine that will help get the pee out. Get an enzyme based product for the clean up. You might need to take the base cover off the frame underneath to get in and clean things properly. Horrible job. Is the cat okay? Was this a protest or something else?

ChristmasTimeChristmasJoy · 26/11/2025 06:36

No, it will have gone through the padding of the chair no chance of saving it. My cat did it to my old sofa I tried everything and had to chuck it.
get him tested for a UTI, if not then you need to clean litter box at least 2-3 times a day and possibly get a second litter box. He might not like the location of his litter box either.

countrygirl99 · 26/11/2025 06:42

Try a mix of baking soda and vinegar. Don't use disinfectant as the smell contains some of the elements of cat pee and will encourage the cat to do it again.

Sadly this is why I will only ever have leather sofas. I have a cat who is an occasional sofa and bed pisser. At least with a leather sofa you can wipe it all off.

soupyspoon · 26/11/2025 08:14

Only ever use biological washing powder to clean cat wee as cleaning fluids cause them to do it more

You'll have to chuck the chair as you cant get into the bits inside and the wooden frame, it will just stink all the time.

ShodAndShadySenators · 26/11/2025 09:06

I'd consider that a gone cookie. The pee will be inside the chair's structure - the wooden frame, the padding, everything. You could burn it to ashes and you'll still smell cat wee.

Does your DS want a new bedroom chair for Christmas..?

Sunnyside4 · 26/11/2025 11:11

If he doesn't normally urinate out of his tray, keep an eye in him, as he might have a UTI, cystitis, crystals starting to block. Very painful and could become urgent as he's a boy and has narrower tubes. Look out for urinating in different places, trying to go more or smaller amounts. Stress can make it worse, so try not to get annoyed if he has a problem. This was the first symptom when my old cat had cystitis.

Surgical spirit may help with the smell.

Give the chair a proper send of as bonfire with hot chocolate & giant marshmallows in the garden.
