Do these cushions match this sofa??? I’m so rubbish at this sort of thing. Very grateful for any opinions.

Is the bigger cushion too big??

They don't not match but IMO the big ones are a bit bland, you need more of a contrast. I would go for plain dark blue for the big ones. Or if you have any other bright colours in the room you could match them. I don't think they're too big though.

ifyoulikealotofchocolateonyour · 25/11/2025 21:58

I'm good at that this of thing. The cushions you've got are fine. You just need some more. Try another two cushions and maybe a long thing one at the front too. And don't be afraid to mix and match prints and colours for more interest.

Is the sofa green or does it just look it.

I think the big ones are too big and agree blue would be better (assuming the sofa isn’t green!)

HermioneWeasley · 25/11/2025 22:01

I wouldn’t say they match - you’ve got a warm
neutral sofa and cold blue and white cushions. I like them but I don’t think they “go”.

TwistedSinger · 25/11/2025 22:03

I’ve nabbed this cushion from elsewhere in the house… is this an improvement?

The sofa is beige. The large cushions are a stone/beige colour. The smaller ones are beige and greeny blue floral pattern.

I personally would find the background of both cushions a bit too pale for that sofa.
The sizes don’t look right at the moment because you’ve only got 2 pairs. If you get more cushions (including at least one that’s a solitary one - not a pair - because I think having loads of pairs/even numbers is a bit matchy-matchy) then the difference in size between the two you’ve got won’t be highlighted like currently is.

TwistedSinger · 25/11/2025 22:06

They all still have labels on so I can send them straight back.

carpets in the room are grey, as are the curtains. It’s a rented property, so we can’t do anything about those. We have another sofa in the room. A light blue coloured love seat thing. Also need to sort cushions for that. 🙈

I agree that the big cushions need to be a colour, preferably picked out of the patterned ones.
With a neutral coloured sofa it doesn’t need to match it just needs to look good against it. The pale cushions look like they haven’t got a cover on.
I’d go for blue.

They look 60x60 so you’ll easily get something from IKEA or similar.

biscuitscake · 25/11/2025 22:13

I'd probably go for something with more colour rather than a colour that is more or less the same as the sofa and just a different shade. What about blue to match your love seat? The sofa and other main furnishings you have described all seem pretty muted and bland. I'd definitely get some colour in there.

TwistedSinger · 25/11/2025 22:13

Looks like the big ones need to go back, based on opinions so far. Does it work having the small rectangular cushion in the middle?

OP posts:
loobylou10 · 25/11/2025 22:15

The big ones are wrong imo. They look like the inserts of cushions - get bolder covers for them and it’ll look better.

TwistedSinger · 25/11/2025 22:21

Would these look good behind the floral ones??? Or too much???

You’re asking if beige matches with beige and beige. Giiiirl treat yourself to some COLOUR! Sparkle a little joy in there. It’s your bloody house throw some personality into it. What colours do you like? Who gives an F if they match!

My living room is decorated with strong contrasting colours and everyone who walks in there loves it. It feels rich and vibrant and warm and impossible not to feel cosy and snug and luxurious. Take some risks! Life a little. Enjoy your surroundings.

SalmonOnFinnCrisp · 25/11/2025 22:50

Love the middle cushions dont love the big ones.. wrong tone imo.

Actually, I like this. A bit of contrasting pattern can work really well. I also like the darker colour one in the middle in previous pictures and agree the current big ones need more colour or pattern. Like the size if then though. Lots of nice ideas in previous posts.

IvePiercedMyFootOnASpike · 25/11/2025 23:02

I think you need to mix it up a bit and add some colour. I've done orange but you could do something to match whatever is in your room.

Okay… I think I’ve cracked it. I’ve ordered some cushions. Photos to follow once they are delivered. Thanks all ☺️

According to the interior design gods apparently you are supposed to provide contrast so seems fine but I'm hopeless at that shit.

Terrytheweasel · 26/11/2025 03:52

They don’t need to match but I would pick out some with different shapes and textures myself

loobylou10 · 26/11/2025 10:34

Yes! Those 2 do go together.

Supersimkin7 · 26/11/2025 10:38
  1. do the colours match YOU not the sofa? Always pick flatterers.
  2. Feather, always, they puff up better.
  3. You’re not as bad a decorator as you think! Very soothing mix you’ve made.
  4. Try everything you like with lights on and off.
  5. Ignore others’ views - mostly.
