My dad is 82.
For around 20 years now he’s been taking lansoprazole for acid reflux.
It comes up into his mouth /stomach burning etc
He doesn’t always remember to take his tablets but most of the time he does.
Saturday night he said he had burning in his stomach even tho he had taken the tablet (his on lowest dose ) he had been to the pub and had 5 pints and ate pastry (not sure if it contributed)
Anyway said it hasn’t bothered him today but had a little yesterday (he also went to pub yesterday)
Anyway I said maybe mention it to GP
He is stubborn and said no as he has had it years and he’s not having a camera down his throat again as he hated it and made him pass out (he’s squeamish and terrified of hospital)
I googled and seen it came up stomach ulcer …so now I’m worried he has one and it’s going to burst and kill him.
Hes told me to stop being stupid but I’m a worrier.
Could it be the alcohol and pastry /greasy foods making it worse ?
