Do you oversnack in the office?

I was very bad with this yesterday. I snacked on so many biscuits, crisps and brownies. Ate sooooooo much before my dinner with DH in the evening and my stomach was in a knot. Had a really bad stomach ache

Not proud of myself. At least I realised why was stomach was hurting. I first thought maybe it was the wine. Then in bed I realised now heavily I'd snacked during the day.

Does anyone else do this?

I used to get so bored at work sometimes it would just trigger such a bad food binge that I'd literally have to leave my shift?! I'd make myself unwell with so many crisps, donuts, biscuits, sweets etc. Not proud of those moments when I totally lost self control!

I'm glad I realised yesterday. Oh my god my stomach was hurting

definietly, I think working from home has cured this as I'm having to buy my own food, I don't eat nearly as much as I used to do.

No I’m worse at home. In the office I take my food with me and don’t eat anything else.

Don't worry we've all been there! X

We used to nip to the cafe for a coffee and accidentally pick up a sausage sandwich, too.

I put on 3 stone like that.

Lost it during COVID. and have cut out snacking since. Mostly.

I used to be terrible at work. Until I started Wegovy and stopped it. I’m a nurse and have my breakfast at 6am and not get lunch till 1pm or later. And I’d need sugar. We usually have a draw full of rubbish. I don’t do it when out and have nothing in the house.

Beamur · 25/11/2025 10:29

I snack more in the office. At home, despite there being more food available I don't tend to.

We took an Uber back from the restaurant to the station and in the Uber I was so queasy. When I got home I really had to use the loo to feel better.

At least you could do a BM! I always get constipated when I eat too many snacks! Sorry, tmi 🤣

ExquisiteDresses · 25/11/2025 11:26

No, I'm far worse at home, at work I can only have what I take with me unless I go out (at least 10 mins walk to nearest shop) as we don't have vending machines or anything. WFH would be a disaster for me on that front.

YorkshireGoldDrinker · 25/11/2025 11:31

I used to. It's because you're eating out of boredom or comfort rather than hunger. I gained 10lbs over the course of 5 years this way. I often had sugar crashes or my stomach was so full I was unable to eat dinner without feeling sick or being in pain.

Noticing is a good start, because you recognise there is a problem and then you have the means to begin drawing up a plan to change behaviour.

Only eat when you're hungry, and if you can't tell if you're hungry, drink a glass of water and you'll soon find out.

Stillpoor · 25/11/2025 11:35

I only eat snacks basically i live on junk.

I definitely needed it. Sorted the stomach pain.

I used to, but about 18 months ago I just put a stop to it. It's like I've told myself it's not there. I'll have the occassional biscuit but just one every couple of weeks. I used to pop to the shops and buy a packet of crisps (or 1) and a couple of choc bars.

I very rarely now will have crisps at work.

I've started eating more protein at breakfast (eggs on wholemeal toast or similar) and will take a soup or salad with protein in for lunch. And that has helped.

I've lost a stone and a half.

Now on my wfh days - I'm a cookie monster - so I really need to sort that out!!

Natsku · 25/11/2025 11:54

Hidden benefit of coeliac disease is that when people are sharing cake and biscuits at afternoon coffee break I can't have any so don't get extra snacks that way.

Yep this is what I do. Lost 5 pounds when I moved to hybrid working.

Should probably move to 5 days in the office 😀
