My DH had heart surgery last summer to repair his heart valve. He had two infections in the months afterwards and was back in hospital whilst they monitored for endocarditis which fortunately it wasn’t. He has been well since but for the last month he has noticed an irregular heart rate (apple watch). He flagged to gp and saw a cardiologist for a an echo last week who didn’t seem that concerned. This week he has noticed his ankles are very swollen which we understand can be a sign of heart failure. He has a follow up with the cardiologist on Thursday but says he just knows something is wrong. Has anyone else had experience of this surgery and its possible failure?
