How much do you get on free school meals?

My dc in primary school get t universal cost of the meal and pudding, which is worth about £2.90 i think. Dc in secondary get £2.70 to spend each day. Dc in college has just gone down from £5.20 to £5 a day. It seems to be different to FSM though in that the criteria is a household income of £20k or less rather than £7k and they call it a meal bursary. They are changing it because of the increasing number of students receiving various bursaries.

It just got me wondering if free school meals were fairly similar or if children in London got more etc.

I'm not sure how much ours is now (secondary school sixth-form) but after covid the school said they'd always match it to the cost of a meal deal, so main, pudding and drink. So although the school only get £2.50 they subsided the rest.

At our school they get whatever the meal deal (main, dessert/snack/fruit and drink) price is. The meal deal is the most efficient thing to buy with it, but they have the choice of what to spend it on.
