anyone got a YumAsia Panda rice

does anyone have a Yumasia panda rice cooker? We got one in a good deal on Amazon and we’ve tried long grain and thai jasmine rice in it, following the instructions as stated. It comes out too hard or partially cooked. Where am I going wrong? I assume you put the rice into the little removable basket and lower this into the bowl? In my previous rice cooker, there was no basket and rice went straight in. Flowing the instructions the water is below the rice, not covering it. Am I doing it wrong?!

If you're on Facebook, there is a group called "the yum asia panda and other models" that is very useful at trouble shooting

Isn’t the basket for when you are using it as a steamer?

I don't have a Panda - I have a different model of YumAsia, but if it's like mine, the basket is not for rice, it's for steaming vegetables etc. The rice goes in the bottom of the pot with the water. I'm not sure how you'd put rice in a basket - doesn't it fall through the holes?!

No the rice goes in the bottom of the pot! The other bit is for steaming veg
had mine for years use it multiple times a week!

I re-read the last bit of your post. No, there's no way the water is supposed to be below the rice. The rice cooks in the water. I think you must have misread or misunderstood the instructions. There are videos on YouTube of how to use them, if you are still unsure.

OMG thank you! I was going a bit crazy trying to figure out what we’re doing wrong! Rice goes straight in the pot. Why this didn’t occur to me is baffling!
