Best milk frother for hot chocolate

Washinginthesun · 23/11/2025 16:34

I want to buy my DS a hot chocolate maker / milk frother for Christmas but there is just so much choice. I have been looking for days!

Does anyone have any recommendations please?

It’s just for hot chocolate. He likes it to be hot, not luke warm. And needs to be easy to pour and clean.

Thanks

Sorry not to have a suggestion but I just thought I needed to let you know that my tired brain misread the title of this thread as "Breast milk frother for hot chocolate" which I am really glad isn't what it is about.

I have the Hotel Chocolat velvetiser and it is worth the money imo. Others will say that the cheaper versions are just as good (eg Aldi one) but I've never tried them so I can't compare. I use all different hot chocolate in it too, not just the HC ones. My favourite at the moment is the Tesco own brand of hc, the velvetiser makes it all lovely & frothy.

I have a velvetiser. You have to use their chocolate and I don’t find it hot enough. I microwave a little milk and add that to it.

I bought DD a Smeg hot chocolate maker as the grandchildren are obsessed with hot chocolate after school, I got it as a bundle from Knoops. She's really chuffed with it, it makes 4 small hot chocolates or 2 decent mugs. I've got a velvetiser but it's only 1 mug that you can make at a time.

I agree with this. I actually bought mine from an eBay seller that was a customer return with ripped box and got it £25 cheaper with full guarantee and everything. My foster sons love the creamy frothy hot chocolate. I've had to stop my eldest foster son from sneaking it off to uni with him.

Where do you get good chocolate flakes at not ridiculous prices for these? Preferably palm oil free.

I have a Velvetiser and the problem is that it only make one cup at a time which is Luke warm.

I have a HC Velvetiser and I use all kinds of hot chocolates in it, never had an issue.

I also use it for just frothing the milk for a cappuccino etc. it’s definitely better than the cheaper versions I’ve had before (this one was a gift), but the others weren’t bad.
