Do you think we’re invited to this party?!

Saw some friends the other day, his DDs birthday is in a few weeks, similar to mine and I asked what plans they had - he said ‘the party?! Didn’t you get an invite?’ I awkwardly laughed and said oops nope but no worries I know there’s always lots of people to invite. He said ‘no of course you’re invited!’ Said where it was and the date.

It wasn’t mentioned again. I will just leave it and assume we are actually not invited :D but what would you do?!

Well, he did invite you and gave you the date and time. Whether that was an afterthought or not, you are invited.

Pixieknowle · 22/11/2025 20:08

I don’t have a time!

Has your daughter been invited to previous parties?

mondaytosunday · 22/11/2025 20:09

Um, he made a verbal invitation so why do you assume you are NOT invited? I mean if you decide not to go you’d have to let them know. But how old is their DD? Why would you be invited?

iSage · 22/11/2025 20:09

Agree with pp, if they hadn't intended to invite you, they either wouldn't have mentioned the party at all or they'd have said something like 'it's just for a few of DD's close friends.'

Pixieknowle · 22/11/2025 20:09

No it’s a the first party they’ve had, they’re only little

If he didn't want to invite you he wouldn't have reacted surprised when you didn't know there was a party.
He wouldn't have then invited you to the party!

HateThese4Leggedbeasts · 22/11/2025 20:11

I'd say that sounds like a panicked/embarrassed invite and you were not on the original list. I'd send a message saying sorry you are busy on that date but have a good time etc so now out gracefully. But I hate anything where I feel I'm there out of social obligations!

Pixieknowle · 22/11/2025 20:11

So would you message and ask the time? I just felt like it was a bit awkward and they maybe just said that when I asked as they were embarrassed but after going home realised there wasn’t space or something otherwise surely they would have messaged?

If his wife was with him as well, what did she say when he said that you were invited?

Thehighlightsofit · 22/11/2025 20:35

I think I would leave it and wait and see if they reconfirm.. they might txt?! It’s all a bit awkward! I presume you’re not that close?!

MyLimeZebra · 22/11/2025 20:38

Not sure why you wouldn’t just message and say ‘nice to see you the other day, is Xs party still on if so what time and do you want us to bring anything’
