How many gb RAM for a laptop for secondary school?

DD is starting yr7 in September and I am planning to get her a laptop for Christmas that she can use for school homework, as well as browsing Vinted and watching YouTube crochet videos! She won’t be gaming on it.
Is 4gb enough? Or is it worth going for 8gb?

I'd go for 8, but it might be worth asking the school.

You need Windows 11.

You don’t necessarily need windows 11, we bought a MacBook for DS. The homework is all browser based and he gets access to the Microsoft suite through his school account (again via browser).

I'm not a Mac user so can't comment on them.

My son's school has a microsoft account for each child and work etc uploaded to share point so if this is the case for your school the 4gb will be fine

Minimum 8GB, ensure it has Windows 11 because Windows 10 is no longer supported by Microsoft. But 16GB is better and not much more expensive. Fairly easy to upgrade in most cases. Also try to get a 512GB SSD (hard disk), not smaller, but bigger is better again. I always buy HP from their online store.

If you are an iPhone family then the MacBook could be a good choice. A bit expensive, but the compatibility with iPhones would be helpful.
