Totally sick of all the rain

Just that. Anyone else?

OP posts:
Shouldbedoing · 22/11/2025 15:39

The reservoirs are still below optimum levels

But it does get depressing when it rains for days.

IndigoIsMyFavouriteColour · 22/11/2025 15:40

Same, I preferred it when it was cold but bright. The rain is just depressing and there’s a special hell in being wet and cold.

RampantIvy · 22/11/2025 15:43

No rain here for a few days, but it is forecast.
Ladybower is still lower than it should be.

Oh you're so lucky. It's only just stopped here, been going since last night. West Midlands

blobby10 · 22/11/2025 15:49

East Midlands here - been raining since 10pm last night and not scheduled to stop until tomorrow afternoon. I've walked the dog and done my dads horses and gone through two coats, two hats and two pairs of gloves. Having changed into dry clothes I now need to find another coat to wear so dog can have another walk. NO idea where I've put my other pair of gloves though Sad

They are, and so are the rivers.

If OP wants the rain to stop they'll need to accept drought and water restrictions next year.

Nourishinghandcream · 22/11/2025 15:57

Agree that it is not always pleasant being out in the rain (especially when it is cold as well) but all the rain we can get is desperately required due to the almost complete lack of it since early March.
Water levels are still noticeably low (reservoirs, rivers, ponds etc) and we are still on a hosepipe ban here.
I take Ddogs across the fields and despite all the recent rain, there is no mud and the ground is still firm (almost hard!) underfoot.☹️

mondaytosunday · 22/11/2025 16:24

It hasn’t rained that much. It’s Autumn after all. I think it’s cosy.

EdithStourton · 22/11/2025 16:25

We desperately need a wet winter. Where I live, many of the ponds are still empty or only partly filled, and the ditches are dry.

It was a terrible year for agriculture - hay crop down by 50%, for example.

Vegemiteandhoneyontoast · 22/11/2025 16:47

EdithStourton, yes I agree. I live in a rural area and the fields this summer were so depressing to see because almost nothing grew. They should have been full of grain but it was all just patchy weeds, which is very worrying. Agriculture suffered, farm animals suffered and so did wildlife.

I work as a gardener and spent the entire summer at work just trying to keep gardens alive. It was exhausting and dispiriting. The rain we're getting now, at last, is a huge relief.

DanglingMod · 22/11/2025 16:48

Yabu because it had barely rained yet this autumn until the last couple of days

TomatoSandwiches · 22/11/2025 16:51

Well we had a long, extra warm summer, bumper foraging fruits... balancing this is expected and good.

tobee · 22/11/2025 16:56

I can't stand the rain, it makes me feel trapped inside.

GreenMoonLeaf · 22/11/2025 16:58

It’s hardly rained and we really need rain. Reservoirs here still very low. YABU.

topcat2014 · 22/11/2025 17:04

I find wearing 2 pairs socks keeps my feet warm all day, which seems to make me better able to cope. Cold feet and i want to go to bed about 7pm

MasculineProviderEnergy · 22/11/2025 17:17

Seeing the river levels rising has been nice. But the cellar flooded the other day! First time it's happened since I've lived here.

Solaire18381 · 22/11/2025 17:24

Apart from the other weekend, then more recently frost and ice, it hasn't rained much today or yesterday, in fact it's been quite sunny.

I was reading just before when we do have heavy rain, about the ongoing and worsening problem of sewage overflow into the streams and rivers by the water companies 😠

rafeal · 22/11/2025 17:28

i also think it’s hardly rained yet.

Theunamedcat · 22/11/2025 17:31

Our flood barriers have been up its raining in the wrong places clearly

Yes. If we have a drought next year it'll be thanks to a mumsnet post 🤔. @AndreaMarvell sonce you clearly have the power please can it only rain mon to Fri?

Well, I am a Weather Goddess, dontcha know.

Berlinlover · 22/11/2025 17:40

Where do you live OP?

Muststopeating · 22/11/2025 17:42

I live in rural Scotland where most people I know are on private well water.

Most of those people have also had their wells run dry this summer. I don't enjoy the rain at all but I can assure you it is less miserable than not having water to flush your toilet, shower, run the washing machine or wipe your worktops for days, sometimes weeks on end!

We need a very wet winter for the water table to even start to recover, so be careful what you wish for!

(All that being said, I can relate because it's miserable being cold and wet, but it is definitely a necessary evil and at least we had a lovely summer!)

Oh and it's snow and ice up here. Schools were shut Wed-Fri because of the weather!

MargaretThursday · 22/11/2025 17:58

It's only been raining about 12 hours here.

There's at least two weeks to go.
