Anyone know Manchester airport? Parking query

I'm picking up someone at T2 Manchester airport. I need to meet them in arrivals so will park in T2 West car park.
Anyone know if this car park is likely to be really busy on a Sunday at 4pm ish?
Also if I am there early is there anywhere I can pull up in the car to wait a bit before going into the car park (where charges start)
Is it cheaper to book in advance? I can't make it out.
What happens if the flight is delayed?

You need to check the flight is on time before you set off.
there is nowhere to pull up without charges.

I live two hours away, I need to set off early. I can check before I set off though

Is there somewhere off the airport site but fairly nearby where I can go if there is a delay? Eg a McDonald's or Costa drive through, or any other place I can park up and wait away from the airport site?

There is a pub called the flying horse in Wythenshawe that is just under 3 miles away. We go there for food before going to the airport every time. It's less than 10 minutes away. It's cheap and cheerful. Car parking on site, I'm not aware of any restrictions. We have been there for 2 hours each time.

Not really. Not within 10mins. The airport zone is no parking and little nearby.

There’s a pub called the airport pub (I think) which is right at the end of the runway, I think you do have to pay for parking/reclaim in the pub though (or might get an hour or so free, not sure). It’s nice and very quick service, couple of mins drive from the airport.

I had to pick ds up there on a BH Monday (we live near Portsmouth!) and so had to leave before his flight was even due to take off. He was only flying from France!

Afterwards (always afterwards!) when I’d paid over £20 for 66 minutes in the car park (disabled parking isn’t free either) it was advised in future there is a service station about 20 minutes away on M6 and to wait there and get flight arrival time and drive in when flight arrives. Under an hour is much cheaper to park!

You are probably better to go into Altrincham than the service station. Parking is free for 3 hours at Tesco. There's the market and reasonable shopping. 20mins from the airport. You check the flight times and leave about ten minutes before due in. By the time they've taxied and got through passport control you'll be about spot on

Can park here without charges as its a hotel. Its outside the limits but within view of the departure doors
