I'll begin.

A pogo stick for my dyspraxic ten year old who could not even ride a bike or tie his own shoelaces.

DH looked at me with the 'wtaf?' look. I just said sheepishly that Santa must have been drunk when he pressed 'buy now' on the Amazon site.

Aged 15, I bought a kitchen related present for my mother, who was a housewife but not particularly into cooking. A hand held blender. Looking back, I feel embarrassed, it seems so sexist.

In my slight defence, my best friend was buying her mum the same thing and I copied her. But my mate’s mum had requested one for making smoothies, so it was different.

I’ve also been there with the pogo sticks. F U Aldi special buys and my desperation to buy ill advised fun shit. Disaster.

A battery powered pencil sharpener that my son used to sharpen all of his new pencils completely away in about 2 minuets. He was 6 at the time.
