im in limited for work group on universal credit due to anxiety when i was put in that group i had to fill out an assessment questionaire then had a telephone assessment then when it came to being reassessed about a year and a half ago i did same thing they sent me forms to fill in then i had a face to face assessment at jobcentre. Today however i got a message in my online account saying ive to declare any health changes to jobcentre which theyve never done before which to me seems like theyre asking if im better or worse than before i find it weird theyre doing this rather than giving an assessment like theyve done before i always thought it was supposed to be an impartial assessment and the people who do assessment advise jobcentre if im fit for work or not

How is your anxiety now? Have you had any treatment? Did it help?

Dogmum1983 · 22/11/2025 00:35

Well if you believe everything that is being thrown about online the government are trying to get people with anxiety (and depression , adhd etc) back into work amongst a lot of other people with illnesses . Maybe this is their first step to getting you looking for work .

It’s looking likely that there is going to be a lot of people looking by for jobs soon that haven’t had to.

Im not entirely sure where these jobs are all coming from but they ain’t bothered about that obstacle.

I'd always be suspicious of the DWP to be honest. But yeah if your health has got significantly better of worse, then you need to tell them.

my anxiety isnt any better its worse my meds have been increased for it the groups ive been refered to dont help theres always drama with people gossiping and starting stuff with each other tbh id feel more confortable with an assessment as theyre supposed to be impartial rather than jobcentre making a decision on theyre own as theyve made it clear in past they dont believe theres anything wrong with me they think im just on skive

Thats what i dont understand employers will give preference to somebody applying for a job whose got an up to date work history and no medical issues

Sounds pretty standard

surely that should be looked into during an assessment though im suspicious that theyre going to try and make a decision on theyre own rather than do it through people that are impartial and dont have an agenda to get people off theyre books and arent interested in statitistics and dont see people who are in limited for work with anxiety and mental health issues as lazy this has been well publicided

I think its a standard message thats sent out as routine basically reminding you that if your circumstances change - for better or worse - you need to declare it
