Lunch in Manchester city centre

We eat in Manchester regularly but tend to stick to our usual haunts.

Where do you enjoy for good food, good service?

A few we like: Rudys, Canto, Exhibition, Hawksmoor, San Carlo, Ramona, El Gato, Mowgli.

Thanks

If you like Mowgli try Dishoom

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/11/2025 18:50

Dishoom, Society, Maki and Ramen, double zero (not as good as Rudys though), I really like the thai place in the little food markets on Piccadilly Gardens.

We went to Blacklock for recently and it was miles better and half the price of Hawksmoor

teatum · 21/11/2025 18:51

Also El Rincon- total classic

This is one I can't believe I haven't tried.

We have the Dishoom cook book and for some reason this makes me less bothered about going, but I'll put it back on the list!

DD is going to Manchester tomorrow and looking to eat lunch near Manchester Picadilly - she loves anything and everything - where would you recommend that’s not too ££££ ?! Thank you!

I'm intrigued by the little food market but try and get through picadilly gardens as fast as possible 😅

Within 10 minutes walk: Yumcha (Chinese, gay village) Rudys Ancoats (pizza), Mackie Mayor (food court, busy), Ramona if its not fully booked, or head to Northern Quarter e.g. Luck Lust Liqour & Burn for Mexican or Bab for Greek kebab.

That’s just reminded me we’ve had amazing roasts at 10 Tib Lane and 3 Little Words

OhCobblers · 22/11/2025 15:18

@TutTutTutSigh she went to Ramona’s and loved it!! Thank you so much!

AgapanthusPink · 22/11/2025 15:24

TNQ. Mackie Mayers if you want something more casual. Dishoom in Manchester is particularly special because the building is gorgeous. If you like Italian Chichettis in the bottom of House of Fraser. It's owned by San Carlo's which is opposite which has a load of hype as a celebrity haunt but I was not impressed with the food on the one occasion I went.

Evuna, Deansgate has a bigger menu than NQ; Dimitris (Deansgate).
