TV presenters and politicians talking over each other

I’ve just watched a really uncomfortable interview between Naga Munchetty and Andy Burnham. It was really difficult to follow as they both were just talking over each other and neither of them would give up. I’ve seen this happen so often and it drives me crackers. I just want interviewers/interviewees to be able to get their views across clearly and with respect between themselves.
Anyone else driven mad by this?

How are you still able to watch BBC News?

it’s unbearable performative shite

QuidNuncy · 20/11/2025 07:55

I turn off when she’s on. She’s by far the worst of them for it.

cafenoirbiscuit · 20/11/2025 07:57

I do wonder if politicians receive training in tuning out what’s going on around them whilst keeping talking. I see quite a lot of them do it on all tv channels

I knew you'd been watching this before I clicked through. It was awful, not helped by the fact I didnt sleep last night, it was just an incoherent racket! Very uncomfortable to listen to.

The worst is the house of commons where people jeer at each other, interrupt and talk or laugh over each other.

I spend my days trying to teach infant school kids to show respect and listen when someone else is speaking, but the adults supposedly running our country can't do so. I despair.

Susanna Reid is the same if not worse than Naga , I think Piers Morgan was her mentor if I shout louder then I am more important, nobody can make head or tail of the interview and it is just a shouting match,

Coffeeishot · 20/11/2025 08:08

Nobody needs to be so combative at 7.30 am it is unnecessary.

It's bad but none are as bad as John Humphreys used to be. I'd switch off "Today" rather than listen to him.
