I need to get ds to see a psychiatrist. He's 21 and autistic, but has depression and is struggling. Personality disorder runs in the family and he needs assessing.
The GP referred him to mental health services and he's waited almost a year to see anyone even though he gets suicidal. He saw someone a couple of weeks ago and they couldn't have cared less. It was some sort of mental health worker who blamed everything on his autism, fobbed him off and has discharged him.
Dh has agreed that we need to pay privately, but there's no one in our area. They're all corporate central numbers that I call and they're based down south. We're in the NE and it's like the land that time forgot. The Nuffield isn't taking on new patients for psych services.
Please can anyone tell me if they know of anywhere that has capacity for new patients? I can get to Cumbria, Leeds, York or Manchester. Ds has to do a face to face meeting, assessment over Zoom isn't an option. I'm not in good health and can't travel South.
