I'm not surprised by this after a beauty spa/salon only for children recently opened in a town I often visit. Skincare and cosmetics etc are being marketed younger and younger.
I noticed on Mumsnet even last year threads about what children were asking for for Christmas with children as young as 6 asking for 'designer' skincare items and someone's 9 year old wanting some kind of acid facial cleanser or treatment.
