How often do you buy toys for your young DC?

Just curious as this is my first DC and I’m wondering if I’m spoiling him? At the moment I’ve been buying bits and pieces for DS every couple of weeks, it’s almost all second hand from fb and I go into our local charity shops to see if they’ve got anything he would like. He’s probably had more just lately as we went on a long car journey so he had a puzzle and a few books for that (all second hand), and then as I’m heavily pregnant and my DH has been away this weekend I’ve bought him a big bucket of toy cars from fb marketplace to keep him occupied.

Is this normal/ok? The cost isn’t really an issue as I buy used mostly but I guess I worry he’s being spoilt. But then waiting for Christmas/birthdays is difficult as he changes so quickly, I feel the toys wouldn’t be appropriate after a couple of months. For context DS is 18 months.

I think with your first (and at this age) you end up buying a lot as their abilities are changing so quickly.
