Cairo with an 8 and 9 year old- any recommendations?

I'm planning on taking my kids to Egypt next year- am thinking a couple of days in Cairo to see the pyramids and then out to Ain Sokhna for some resort action. Has anyone done similar with kids and can make any suggestions and recommendations? I'm thinking of getting a private tour guide for Cairo and the pyramids but don't know where to start....

I did similar with family of 5 when my youngest was 14 (other DDs are adults).
We just spend the day in Cairo which was enough for us. You definitely need a guide and a driver. You can book your Cairo trip via the resort or holiday provider. We stayed in Hurghada for the rest of the holiday.

We loved Cairo, no kids though, it’s quite full on. Uber there is cheap, reliable and safe. Getting a guide and driver for the pyramids probably means you’ll get more out of it. This park is huge, family friendly and would be fun with a family https://carriereedtravels.com/2017/07/29/al-azhar-park-in-cairo-with-kids/.

Al-Azhar Park in Cairo with Kids

Al-Azhar Park is a great spot in Cairo to visit with kids–lots of greenery, easy walking paths for strollers or little feet, plenty of shade and grass, bathrooms, food, and a playground!
