As a gen x, I do get it and I do think it’s very British
repressed emotions

just doesn’t feel very Christmassy to me tho…
and hate the message can find the words, just buy the right gift …

totally not the spirit of Xmas !
but it’s also a retailer flogging things not a government announcement

It's just about family and love surely?

It's the first one of theirs I have liked in years. I don't like the dad rooting around under the tree for prezzies, instead of them opening together as a family. But otherwise all good.

It's better than that one where Lilly Allen did the cover as it's very funny! I mean its not really what I think of when I think of conservative with a small C, John Lewis, the rave scene, compromised mental state as often drug taking followed by massive come down and weed smoking!

And the message that those times were great son but obviously you came along and changed all of that. Also, I get that teenagers can be moody but when mine see their Dad, it is not that unusual that they feel the need to have a prolonged stare that makes them look like they have seen a ghost but I don't get the impression we are as inhibited as the average family, if this represents the typical British family! I mean what kid can't hand a Christmas present to their parent and not be in the room when he opens it!

Don’t especially like it but it did make me well up when the boy turned back into a toddler running to give him a hug. But that’s just because I have a toddler and I hate the passing of time.

defo not very Christmassy though

Actually, I reacted in the same way as have recently being compiling a photo book and ended up watching videos of my DC as toddlers, the eldest is now 18 and those times will never return.

He’s not rooting around for presents. He’s tidying up. He finds a present amongst the wrapping mess, that has accidentally not been opened.
