Sainsburys as an employer

I know of four people who have worked for Sainsburys for years who have been treated appallingly recently (separate incidents) and I wondered if this is a widespread issue or I have just met the exceptions?
It seems like staff have no value to them and the things I have heard beggar belief.

What sort of things. Their sickness process is stupid if you work part time and you have 3 separate sick days a year you will get a disciplinary meeting.
So if you work 3 days a week and you are ill on Monday and go back on Wednesday but still felt unwell so have Friday off you would only have one other day left in the a year to be ill otherwise you will get a disciplinery.
But if you are off continually ill for any of time like 3 - 6 months you won't.
