Hello

I seen another thread the other day about a lady wanting to retrain, it got me thinking too...

40, sahm carer. I have worked many jobs and not worked for 12 years now due to kids , eldest is 12, both my kids are disabled so I need to be home.

I just think what happens when some of the benefits get stopped and my husband may need me to help with a 2nd income in the future.

Any advice as I am so out of the loop! Admin training online? What type of jobs can you do from home realistically.

I cant even remember how to do spreadsheets lol

I have worked in retail, call centre, hotel reception, drs reception that I actually did college course training on, worked in a salon washing hair, cleaner, office staff, waitress. All not in order of course lol

Did not gain a high education (College in the highest and not even HND level) due to family issues making my life difficult and unsettled. Been to college 2 times, one for beauty therapy and one to do the medical reception training course, both a very long time ago in my teens and 20s.

You could look at doing the ECDL online. That would give you basic computer skills. After that maybe do a course in payroll administration with a view to having your own business as a payroll bureau offering services to small companies with only a handful of staff. Those businesses tend need administration services but can't justify the cost of someone in a full or even part time role. You'd be able to do that from home.
