Appealing to the brilliant minds of Mumsnet! What’s the best way? Coach, train, bus…?
Thank you!

Whereabouts in Birmingham?

Coach is the easiest if you have a lot of luggage. There are direct coaches several times a day. However if luggage us minimal then train might be better.

If the airport then the coach is really quick, direct and cheap. From New Street the train is possibly a better option. If you have lots of luggage, going by train to Reading and getting the railair link to Heathrow from there is probably easier than negotiating the underground.

There's no direct train link, the easiest way by train is probably Birmingham New Street to Reading then use the RailAir bus to LHR. That saves you changing trains and tubes etc in London.
Or there's a direct National Express coach.

If not much luggage then Snow Hill or Moor St to Marylebone (Chiltern Trains), Couple of stops in Bakerloo Line to Paddington then Elizabeth Line to Heathrow.
Although New St to Reading probably better because it does cut out going into actual London.

National Express from Birmingham coach station for direct public transport. Otherwise train to London then underground or bus to Heathrow

Great - thanks! One suitcase and hand luggage.

Starting from Selly so can get anywhere as a starting point, really.

The train is going to be a faff with all of the changes/transfers on the underground. A coach will be more direct (and cheaper, I imagine, with a charging station in every seat—bonus).
