Both of my kids have went so fussy regarding eating. I have a 3 nearly 4yo and a 1 nearly 2yo

Eldest was great but earlier this year just started refusing fruit and veg (apart from bananas) and now wont have any sauces. Avoids some meats doesnt like bread or bread products

Youngest was also great but has been very monkey see monkey do. Loves copying her big brother so when he started throwing veg and saying no she has and the same with fruit ? Shes never loved bananas but she wont try anything else

At nursery both eat well, staff say youngest eats most/all (shes a picker anyway) and eldest eats all.apart from veg and sometimes tries the fruit

So theyre offered variety home and nursery

How do I help this? I feel so awful and guilty that they wont eat these things I've tried everything. I eat them and show them me eating fruit and veg

I prepare meals with them

What do you do at home when they say no. Do you give alternatives, do they request snacks. The difference between home and nursery is the carer’s attitude or getting to the table with an empty stomach. We tend to give more food here and there at home.
Maybe cut out all snacks for a week.

Give alternatives. I turned down the snack route as I noticed eldest was going down there so stopped it as he just wanted snacks

But he has alternatives which is usually very plain meals

All mine have been through phases like this, especially my youngest. He basically ate jelly and pasta for a year! I didn't make a big deal of it, just kept putting foods on plate or on another plate next to meal. Hes 5 now and isn't fussy at all, eats a good variety of meats, fish, dairy, veg etc.

Ah really? And he went from eating no fruit/veg and now eats it?

Trying to be hopeful i get such bad guilt that theyre being so picky over it :(

Yes, would only eat a banana and only if it was from my mum's fruit bowl! Kids are funny little things. Don't stress yourself out. Make food fun with no pressure to eat and no praise if they do. Things like fruit kebabs or strawberries dipped in melted Nutella/biscoff are an easy way in!!
he eats all kids now. School dinners helped massively too.
