Would you have noticed this stolen car?

Random musing for an evening...

We were out for a meal tonight and parked in the multi story car park. Walking back to our car we passed several other cars and DH said "that's odd, I'll catch up" and went back to look at the reg no of one.

It turned out to be a stolen car and DH had noticed it because as we walked past it he clocked that it was covered in a very thick layer of dust so had obviously been parked there for a very long time.

Once he pointed it out it was really obvious, but I'd never have spotted that myself. I'm just not that observant. Would you?

Tell your husband to mind his own bloody business and that he was taking you out for the evening, he's not hercule poirot is he.

How was the meal?

Absolutely OP. Your husband's attention should be glued to you at all times. How dare he waste even a nanosecond of his time to anything other than gazing lovingly into your eyes and hanging on your every word?

Back in reality, it's the kind of thing I might well notice but it's very unlikely I'd do anything about it more than maybe comment "I wonder how long that car's been there?"

I think we tend to notice things we are particularly interested in.

Some people notice unusual cars, or cars they are interested in for some reason.
Other people notice when someone has had a new haircut or lost / gained weight.

Some people notice inaccurate details in fims or TV programmes (eg it is set in Year X but that car didn't come out until X+3 years).
Some people notice when an ingredient has changed in a familiar food.
Others notice if there is a bum note in some music being played.
Others notice people's accents.
etc
etc

What a bizarre response 🤨

I wouldn't assume that meant it was stolen. Very unusual for car thieves to leave a stolen car in a multi storey car park which would have CCTV and likely security too.
