Anyone else had incision and drainage?

Hi all

I had a sebaceous cyst drained on Friday at the hospital and the pain wasn't too bad afterwards sharp but not too bad and the painkillers were working. All weekend I've been fine as long as I took my painkillers.

Then today I saw the practice nurse to have the packing taken out and the surgeon put that I don't need it repacked but the nurse looked at it and said it's deep it will need to be repacked so she took it out no pain then it stung when she cleaned it and repacked it but I was expecting the pain as my sister said it hurts when they repack it however after when I was walking out of the GP surgery it was hurting me way more than it did before I had it repacked and it's been 2hrs since and it still hurts way more.

Has anyone had this does the pain go down eventually? I just wasn't expecting it to go more painful after repacking.

Bumping for you, sounds awful.

Sorry to hear it hurts so much. It will probably hurt for a while as it heals. Maybe you need stronger pain killers? Take them on a regular basis too. Hope you feel better

Just to update everyone I had it changed today and the nurse I saw today was different and she wasn't sure if it needed changing everyday so she got the wound care specialist nurse who was in today and she then looked at it and said it doesn't need to be packed you can use a gel instead to fill it and she then took the packing out and filled it with gel and said I don't need to come back till Thursday now and I'm in very little pain now as soon as the packing was taken out the pain reduced massively
