A sausage casserole is bubbling away in the slow cooker. If I can be bothered, I might steam some broccoli or do peas to go with it. Curled up on the sofa, catching up on messages & half watching the new David Attenborough programme. DH is doing the ultra exciting job of his accounts. DD16 has been out for another walk & is now lurking in her room. I’ve just ordered a Countryfile Children in Need calendar for DM & DF. I already have a National Trust one. Feeling a little under the weather - think it’s mostly tiredness. I definitely won’t be late to bed tonight 😴

Hope you feel better soon, op. Have just put on a fry here, everyone in watching tv except 15yo who is studying for an exam. Dog barking at me every time I pick up my phone and I want to sit on the internet for a while!!!

DH is putting kids to bed and I'm relaxing in a hot bubble bath with a lovely candle on

Watching the Strictly results with my 2 boys. DH in the other room on his work laptop. Taking them to bed when Strictly is finished. Tesco delivery due at 9, I don't know why I keep booking that slot as I regret it every week!

Dd is in the bath with a Lush bath bomb so could be there a while. Ds will have watched the Grand Prix and is likely looking at sport news or building Lego. I'm sitting with ddog now 16 and wondering how vet's visit tomorrow will go as she seems to have got incredibly old in a week and I'm worrying how much longer we will have her and how heartbreaking it will be to lose her.

Lasagne in the oven, rifled through my cd collection and listening to Tears for Fears with a glass of wine and the woodburner going.

Toddler and baby are asleep and we have the first bits of calm. There’s a lot of food on the floor in the kitchen, we’ll tidy that and then finish House of Guinness on netflix

DD, DS and I are watching Strictly results (I’m only half watching as also Mumsnetting). We had dinner already so not much left that needs doing tonight, DH and I will watch a film later.

Doing some batch cooking for the week:

  • Venison stroganoff
  • Warm salmon potato salad
  • Thai chicken bone broth (ok so this one is cheating - it's Daylesford organice from an Ocado flash sale)
  • Sea bream and tomato with harissa whipped feta
  • One pot nduja pasta

My kitchen smells lovely! (And I need to use everything up because a diet is looming,..) Hope you feel better soon.

Sitting on the couch with my padded winter coat on trying to work up the motivation to go out and fill up the car. We are expecting snow here tomorrow and it turned really cold last night. I need to find my gloves too. I'm watching the local NFL.team playing ok but still losing a game they should be winning.

DD is in bed with a heavy cold.

In bed, all school chores done ready for tomorrow and feeling like crap. trying to stop my pelvic floor from falling out every time I cough. Strictly on but not watching. Teenage son going in shower soon and I’m desperately trying to stay awake. 😷🤧🤒🤕 🫩😴🥱

Exhausting week
90 year old Mother ill ( only child/100 miles away)
94 year old FIL had a fall after visiting 87 year old MIL in hospital (120 miles away in opposite direction)
Husband broke down 20 miles from home yesterday
I'm full of cold and very tired and I want my bed
The End

ACatAsleepInYourHat · 09/11/2025 20:03

Husband has retired to bed as he's not well (genuinely, he has a couple of chronic health problems), I've fed the cats, emptied the dishwasher and tidied the kitchen. I'm sitting in front of the computer in what used to be my "home office" before I retired (tiny boxroom), surfing eBay and Mumsnet and a couple of news sites. Manx Radio is on quietly in the background - it carries Radio Caroline till 9pm, and is my kind of old fart music at the mo - and I'm contemplating a cup of tea. All very calm and unexciting, just the way I like it.

at that time, I was just leaving the supermarket in Netherlands (as Belgian ones are not open on Sundays) after dropping DD to the airport (she needed to be at her team’s match today and clean her apartment room). I drove back with my groceries, my new Christmas tree and her laundry, and my half finished work report.

She’s now leaving a chemist in Dublin having picked up the antibiotics for an infection the OOH Dr agreed she had and DH got her to the last late night chemist open on Sundays in Dublin.

I am contemplating getting the non urgent bags from the car (now in Belgium), doing the washing up, or having a shower and hair wash before a much needed sleep. I did have a proper dinner though - chicken risotto to use up DD leftovers in my fridge. So I just need to decide between doing the jobs or giving in to sleep …and 1 option is winning just now…

FranksInvisibleLlama · 09/11/2025 22:45

DC2 is asleep in my bed, I think the cats are there too, meaning there will be very little space for me. DC1 is in the living room looking for the Animal Crossing game card. I am tidying the kitchen, making DC2’s packed lunch and reluctantly considering ironing school shirts.
