What is your area of expertise?

I was wondering what experts there are among you ( not linked to your job) .... I have areas of interest that sometimes surprise people. My knowledge of literature, movies and fishkeeping sometimes surprises (or bores!) people.
What would surprise others about your knowledge? And have you got other people to discuss your interests with?

Knitting.

I'm not an expert as such but I was recently discussing Blue Lights with colleagues and saying how some aspects of the policing portrayed was unrealistic. Colleague jokingly made a comment like 'oh because you know all about policing in Northern Ireland'. So I said well my postgraduate dissertation was on policing in NI, so kind of yeah. Shut them right up 🤣

Oh yes!! I am a knitter ( not excellent but can do the basics in terms of blankets, hats, gloves etc) and it always surprises people. I love to see what accomplished knittees can do!

Oh absolutely feel this.
I often watch these programmes and want to bang my head on the wall it's so unrealistic and no wonder people have such expectations of the police because they/we are fed this information in these programmes.

Icing cakes 🤷🏻‍♀️😂
(as a result, I think I’d make a pretty nifty plasterer as well 🤔😂)

Counted cross stitch. Not an expert, far from it, but some of it has been good enough to frame and adorn the walls.

People are usually very surprised to find that I'm fluent in a couple of languages that they wouldn't expect me to know.
