Where you can avoid any politics, negative threads etc, just a cosy spot to natter about the seasons, general chat about lots of things that aren’t miserable?

I think that is the main purpose of this Chat board isn't it?

The autumnal trees are looking lovely at the moment.
We took advantage of no rain and cloud cover to put up our tree lights outside this morning.

The Nigel Slater threads are lovely. There is now a year long thread, plus the original autumn winter thread that runs from October to February every year.

Thank you! I’ve started the Nigel Slater thread. Also the street WhatsApp one is quite good fun.

Even on a cosy thread they can kick off about the weirdest things!. And some posters just have a tone. I try and read it and think they don’t mean to come across as patronising/aggressive etc

There was a row between 2 posters on a thread about tuck shop /sweet shop things on a lh thread.
I do love a nostalgic thread about sweets and the reminders of the ones I've forgotten existed

It’s so odd sometimes how people get riled by something totally innocuous

or desperate for people to say ‘oh yes you’re right - I’ve changed my view now’. what happened to ‘agree to differ’

Yeah, it's here in chat

Some people could start an argument in an empty room.

Poster 1: What lovely weather we're having at the moment! So happy to be able to get out for walks and not need the heating on in the evening. Really love this late autumn sunshine and the beautiful colours.
Poster 2: You may like it, I'm fed up with having to sweep up leaves. Hate autumn. Makes me think of death.

We're mostly pretty chummy over in Radio Addicts, but even discussing The Archers gets heated sometimes. That's life, unfortunately. When you talk online you don't pick up on the signs that something isn't going down well - facial expression, body language, tone of voice, loudness of voice. So easy to give offence (and also to take offence).

There was a wonderful thread a few years back where people who had trouble sleeping due to worries asked other MNetters to hold their worries for them for the night. So someone would have a worry about a family member in ICU and another MNetter volunteered to worry for them so the MNetter could sleep.

It was truly beautiful.

Yes, I remember that thread. It really was lovely.
