If you take supplements - do you just take everything at the same time?

I'm just about to put a new order in at Nutrition Geek but I'm wondering about just shovelling them in on a morning.

Currently taking:
Collagen Powder
Magnesium
Vitamin D3
Biotin Growth

Thinking about adding Apple Cider Vinegar capsules.

At the moment I just hoy them all down on a morning alongside my Blood Pressure tablet but I'm just wondering whether that will make my body confused (aware I sound like an idiot!)

I take quite a lot of supplements. I take most in the evening because it's the best time for me to remember and some are about helping sleep (magnesium etc) and reducing night cramps. Vitamin C and iron I always take first thing as the C is an effervescent tablet and iron is absorbed better with it.

Im on lots of supplements and they have to be staggered becuase some inhibit the absorption of others

So Iron and calcium need to be 2 hours apart at least

Iron and PPIs need to be 2 hours apart at least

If you're on high calcium, that needs to be staggered doses throughout the day because your body can only absorb so much in one go.

I try to take my magnesium at night to help lots of night issues

My multi vitamin is a specialist one which contains another high load of minerals and vitamins which I would hope are not contraindicated because they're all in one go!

I didn't know that about calcium and iron. Shame it doesn't say that on the bottle as may have been wasting my money.

Crikey, I've been merrily shoving them down in a handful on a morning

Definitely going to move the magnesium to evening!

Vitamin D should be taken with K2 to help absorption and also some fat as it is fat soluble.

Iron and vitamin C tablets in the morning on an empty stomach and nothing else for 2hrs.

Magnesium Glycinate at about 5pm so it kicks in in time for bed at 9pm.

Just checked. The vitamin D is with K2! What do you mean by 'with fat'? Sorry - new to all this!

@Mathsdebator with some avocado or nuts or peanut butter. Vitamin D is fat soluble so you absorb it better with a source of fat.

Its why I drink full fat milk, the vitamins are more easily absorbed than in skimmed or SS, really good for you

Also dont take your iron with caffeine. I fail at this because I drink tea in the morning

I always took iron 2hrs before anything, tea or coffee. If I took it at 5am when I get up to exercise then I can drink coffee as I get in the car at 7am.

Its not just the caffeine that stops absorption, it's polyphenols. So I didn't even drink herbal tea with iron.

I take ferrous fumerate 210mgx2 last thing at night because I can’t imagine a morning without several cups of tea. I don’t take vit c with it either but it has still raised my levels to a reasonable amount over the last 10 months. Also take magnesium and omega 3 at night. B complex, creatine, NMN and vit D3/K2 first thing in morning.

DeanElderberry · 10/11/2025 13:40

I take B complex, and D in the winter. Both of them last thing at night with a small glass of full-fat milk, several hours after my last alcohol or tea.
